By changer, are we talking about an external changer, or the 6 CD JBL in-dash integrated changer?

If the former, make sure all cabling is tight. If the latter, see if the problem continues when the cable is pulled from the changer port on the HU. Be sure to power off and on the car when making cable changes, so the AVC can re-poll what's on it.

The 6 CD JBL in-dash integrated changer. When I power up the car you can hear it doing something, but you can't eject or load any discs. And, you can't get it to appear when you change modes.

Uh oh. Any of those CDs have labels that may have come off?

No labels on any of them.

I took the Prius by the dealership today and they've ordered a new one. They told me it would take about 4 business days to get in. That's about the same time I should be getting the AIC-100i back.

The AIC-100i was bad. I'm wondering if it did something to the CD changer because I was not having any problems until the AIC install.

I got an email from Eugene today. I was having problems with the iPod and my 88 play lists. Unfortunately during my own debugging efforts I discovered a blank play list and one with 146 songs (I moved a bunch to a new play list and forgot to delete them). I the process I thought what the heck I would up date the iPod software and then retried it. Working much better but still some problems with it bouncing to Disk 66 and refusing to access Disks 35-50 on a consistent basis. I sent a email and Eugene asked for the firmware version on the unit and software version on the iPod. Seems that there is some conflict between my firmware and the newest software. I think that I will send it in and get reflashed as I am thinking when the Apple Care runs out on the iPod I will get a Video iPod.

It doesn't seem to me that anyone has really answered the question that was the original purpose for this thread.

Has anyone confirmed that the new Video iPod (5G) works with the Vais?

Ok, so I finally got my 100i from Vais last night after buying a 60 gig ipod video the weekend before. I installed it correctly as specified in Hybrideye's great instructions. However, my ipod freaked out when the prius is turned on. As described by others on the list, the ipod flashes between the ok to disconnect screen and the main menu. When I try to play a playlist from the MD menu, it only plays a few seconds of the song.

I have an email in to Vais, but no response yet. I have a feeling that the ipod video is not compatible with the 100i.

Can anyone confirm that they have the ipod video and the 100i working?

Ok...I just heard from Eugene. He says that the video ipod will only work with version 3.50 of the firmware. I'm not sure why they are still shipping version 3.48.

Therefore, anyone with an ipod video must have this version of the 100i. I assume I'll need to send mine back for the upgrade.

Eugene told me to send mine back, which is good. However, it will probably be at least 3 or 4 weeks before I get it back again, not to mention additional shipping costs to get it back to them. I wish they would just send me a new unit today and I will send the old one back. However, it doesn't look like that's an option.

Why do you think it will take 3 or 4 weeks? It should not take that long to flash it and send it back.

Just a guess, but considering travel time of the package will probably take about a week each way, that leaves 1 to 2 weeks to flash the unit. From the sound of things, they are super busy, so I suspect it will probably be at Vais for almost two weeks before they get around to flashing it.

It will probably be that long before I buy an iPod anyway. But I still enjoy using it with my MP3 player.

Sigh, I too have firmware version 3.45 and it does not work very well with the Video Ipod. I get lots of replay of the first 3 seconds. Sometimes however it just starts working.. for a while. Guess I'll have to send my back too for a reflash.

Sometimes it doesn't pay to be at the cutting edge of technology.

Yet, I got it at a very good price. The flash upgrade is free except for shipping. Still not too bad.

Ok, I was wrong in my time estimate. I shipped my unit back to Vais so they would get it today. This afternoon I recieved a tracking number from Vais indicating they either sent me another unit or reflashed my old unit and sent it out. I should get it Tuesday.

That's pretty amazing turn around. I'm impressed. These guys are a class act.

Something else occured to me. What if Apple updates their firmware for the Ipod in the future and it doesn't work with this version of the Vais unit? Vais should really consider some type of downloadable update that can be placed in a directory on the ipod and will automatically update when connected.

Yea, I taped my business card to the unit and included a print out of the email conversation between Eugene and I. I also emailed him the serial number on my unit.

I've had too many experiences with things getting lost or forgotten.

If you kept the tracking number, you might want to monitor it, then email Eugene again on the day it arrives there.
