Hello! I am looking for pictures of the Solar Sunroof. I have seen pics of it closed...but want to see it open. Maybe from the inside looking up? I am trying to judge the size of the opening. I have read how the opening is small. How do y'all like this setup? Pros and cons? Thanks!!!
I measured mine. It is about 11 - 1/4 inches by 29 inches wide. It is would be nice if it was larger, but I still bought it knowing it was small. It was the only option I had to have (but the dealer threw in tinted windows which I really am glad I have, too.) I live in Florida and, even though t isn't summer yet, the fan that runs when the car is parked keeps my car surprisingly cool. I haven't needed to use the remote AC yet, but I probably will when it gets hotter than 88!
I've not noticed it being small. But I came from a 1 ton 4 door mega cab dually 4 wheel drive... with a moon roof, so it may just seem in proportion to the car. It was a must have for me, as well. I have it open 40% of the time the temp is over 50.
Here are pictures from inside and outside - hope they help some. I love mine - the extra light is good even when it's closed, and the ventilation when it's open when the weather is warm enough is great too.
Walt.. You are the best!!!! Perfect pictures...exactly what I was looking for. And now... I WANT ONE!! WITH A SOLAR SUNROOF!! Thanks so so much!!!
I don't have a sunroof, but appreciate the pictures. I never realized that the S/R doesn't open into the roof header. I see that it opens across the outside top of the roof. I suppose it has to do that if it's acquiring solar energy.
Actually the solar cells are the part of the roof behind the sliding window. All they power is a ventilation fan when the car is parked/turned off. They are not in use when driving at all.
