Remember those Hi-Res '06 interior pics posted a few weeks back? The MFD in that car showed it's GPS co-ordinates and I plugged them into Google Earth, what I got back was a pic of a automobile shipping doc outside Toyota, Japan... Could those be Prius' waiting for a new home? You are one detailed oriented person!!! Nice picture Looks like white and silver dominate the lot, unless they spread out the colors in between whites and silvers...
Very neat pics. That was a great idea to do that! Hey can you post a HIGH res version of that pic on here so I can see the numbers clearly too? Thanks!
Here's the pic I referenced I believe the coordinates are Lat N 35deg 3' 5" Long E 136deg 53' 7" [Broken External Image]:http://www.tundrasolutions.com/photopost/data/534/06_prius_14.jpg
LOL!! That cracks me up, you're studying those pics just a little too carefully. I suspect they must've grabbed a sample and created a little studio to do the shots right there on the dock. Well done.
Though I must point out that the coordinates are near Nagoya, which is a very different city than Tokyo. May seem like a small point, but if you tell someone in Manhattan that Fenway Park was just outside of New York City you'd hear an earful...
As a pilot, I can tell you that most every car on the docks will look white/silver from above due to the protective film on the hood and roof (and sometimes elsewhere, too).
So much forToyota's fabled attention to detail, at least when it comes to security. Suppose we were GM, and wanted to carpet-bomb at just the right moment while we rushed our 55/65 MPG Malibu Hybrid into production? 9G-man, are you by chance a big-time gamer?
Those cars may be Prii awaiting shipment, but who knows what year model they are. It depends on when that satellite photograph was taken. For example, the satellite photo where my house is located is about 4.5 years old. I know this because my neighbor's house was still under construction in the photo, which was 4.5 years ago. I have no idea when they took those pictures of Japan.
Since the high-res photo is of a '06 model with those coordinates displayed, one would have to assume that it is at that location and therefore is a very recent picture. There would be no reason for Toyota to fake the coordinates. I am impressed by the inguinity of entering those coordinates into Google Earth -- brilliant
No one is suggesting Toyota faked anything. Assuming Prii have been built at the same plant for years, we finally discoverd the location of the plant via GPS coordinates from a 2006 Nav screen. I'm confident the photo of the nav screen is a 2006. My question was whether the satellite imagery was recent or not. Someone has just now indicated the picture was taken on March 24, 2005, thus the cars on the lot are highly likely to be 2005 models.
I'll remember the coordinates and next time I am around Nagoya, I'll check out the location and let you guys know, so we won't have to speculate any more.
