I know many of you would never send your car through an automatic car wash, but I'm lazy and every once and a while I like to clean my car at an automatic wash. The one I would go to has an automatic drive assist, however, you can stay in your vehicle. To do this you need to put your car in neutral to let the automatic drive take your car through the carwash. I have heard that pushing/towing a Prius can harm the hybrid components even with the car in neutral. Could the carwash also harm the hybrid components?
Re: "Chugging" after car wash I take my 2008 to a full-service car wash every once in a while because they vacuum out the inside and wax the exterior. This time, after I exited the car wash, the car "chugged" a little and was slow to respond to pressing the accelerator. It scared me but eventually went back to its normal self, so I'm thinking it was water inside something. What does everyone else think? Usually I go to one of those brush-less car washes where I stay in the car but I like to have it vacuumed and waxed at least once a year. Please don't lecture me about doing this myself.
Re: "Chugging" after car wash I, too will use the brush-less car washes periodically. I have heard another problem with the "washes that pull the car thru on a track", there is danger of the machinery cutting into the wheel protectors. I read of this happening thru a thread here on the forum. :car:
