It is your average speed recorded during the cycle of the trip meter. It will reset along with the Miles, Cons. when you reset that particular trip meter either A or B.
You may be asking because the number always seems quite low. Remember, the car averages zero mph when you are sitting at a traffice light, which can really bring down the average.
