    I think there is one called Toyota City....

    My heart goes out to everyone affected by the earthquakes and tsunamis in Japan. It just keeps getting worse. Now there is a threat that the nuclear power plants may have major problems. When it rains, it pours....

    Japanese Production Site | TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION GLOBAL WEBSITE seems incomplete. I have personally toured a/the Tsutsumi plant in Toyota City where I saw 2nd gen Priuses on the line. Judging by some TSBs, there's at least one other plant in Japan that produces Priuses.

    Note that from what I observed at all the car assembly plants I've toured, it appears that a large % (likely a majority) of parts come from other plants and suppliers. Sure, the assembly plants will take in rolls of steel and stamp them into doors, panels and fenders, but they surely don't take in raw materials for plastics and make them into dashboards in house.

    Unfortunately, Company Philosophy | Primearth EV Energy Co., Ltd. mentions a plant in Miyagi. I found Quake shuts Japan plants, seen setting back economy, - The West Australian which says

    Thanks for the articles. Although a lot survived, it appears that several important suppliers, such as Nippon Steel, were significantly affected by the quake and tsunami. Not good. :(

    Just at a time when hybrids were going to shine in the spotlight and save the world from SUVs and imported imported oil, the earth shifted ... EIGHT FEET in two minutes! :eek:
    The earth was here before us and we've known for a long time now about plate tectonics being an objective scientific fact. Unfortunately for Japan, they can't just move to a different city like U.S. residents and companies can do. :(
    My condolences and prayers go out to them.

    North of Tokyo, our adopted/now married daughter Yukiyo has cousins that were badly injured, and lost everything. It's taken 2 days, just so she could contact us. It's hard to imagine the pain, times thousands & thousands. The 50 year average "big one" of the San Andreas fault hasn't let loose in almost as long. I hope more & more people here, will be prepared with the requisite emergency preparedness supplies. Hopefully this will be a wake up call for the millions & millions in so cal. Preparing for the inevitable is not the norm.
