    I never understood why owners did these kind of things. I was watching one of those "Animal Cops" shows on TV, and then it dawned on me: the large majority of the owners who who these kinds of things to their pets are often (practically speaking) retarded/mentally handicapped. Another significant proportion likely has undiagnosed mental illness.
