I want to lease a 2011 Prius II or IV (depends on monthly payment difference) and am getting the run around about what I can actually lease one for. I am a 30 yr old female and don't know much about cars/the leasing process and I know they are taking advantage of me and have been kind of rude to me at one of the dealerships here (tag team approach that said I am crazy if I think I can pay less than $325 a month for a 2011 Prius II even if I put $1500 down...) I am in Phoenix and from my research here the MSRP is around 24K for the II. What is a good deal? I really want to keep my payments at/around the $300/month mark and want to put as little as possible down (no trade in). What can I get? Please help, this is so overwhelming!
Go to a different dealer... there's no reason to give your business to people who treat you poorly. A quick search looks like there are several people with lease payments at or below your threshold. User HTMLSpinnr:
Sit at your Computer and contact 5-7 dealers in your general area. Toyota's Web sit is pretty good. Email them all with your requirements. From the research I did, I believe you can get a 2011 Prius III for $325 per month with minimal down, maybe a few hundred dollars to $500. When you have the best numbers from say 3 dealers, let all 3 compete against each other. You can go to your preferred dealer and say I am going to go to this other dealer unless you will meet my price. See if that works. It shouldn't matter if you lease the vehicle from a dealer 40 miles away, you can get it serviced at the closest dealer. Good Luck.
I just ran a 3 lease at full sticker in the new england area. the msrp is 25k. With 1500 down the payment was 366 per month with tax. Our taxes 6.25 %. Go in ask what the selling price of the vehicle is what they are using as a residual and money factor also. The residual and money factor are fixed from Toyota. The biggest variable is selling price. Do not put anymore than 1500 down. Your one trick would be to get a selling price from a few different dealers first without saying you are leasing. Then once you get the best one walk in the door and tell them you want to lease it at that price. You should also make sure there is a special lease rate on them which is called a money factor.
I just inked a 3 year lease on a 2011 Prius II last Sunday in Van Nuys, CA. I had been watching all of the factory deals and local ads this year to insure my lowest price. On Saturday 4/12 I read a newspaper ad in the LA Times for Keyes Toyota. The ad listed 3 2011 Pruis II for $169.00/month + total drive off cash of $2,499. I arranged to take the deal & role the drive off cash into the lease for $250.00/month + Tax. I did write a check for the first $250 lease payment. (Sweet Deal)!
Today I went to the dealer and got 189+tax. Total down $2250 and pay first month on a prius II with 12k miles. Is this a good deal? Need some help here to make my final decision.
They were offering locally $199/month with $2200 down, 3 year lease, residual $15,400 in May 2010. I took it.
On April 14th, 2011 I leased a 2011 Prius II in which they threw in Bluetooth and an extended warranty (6 years total) with 12K miles per year. I think I got screwed... Looking for some insight from others who may have leased. I have a slightly different situation that those who commented above as I had $2,700 in negative equity on my trade-in.. My fiancée financed the car because her credit was much better. She apparently got a lease 'deal' because her credit is so good. They said that Prius' are so hot right now (since what happened in Japan) that normally these are going for 5k over the MSRP ... he gave it to me for only 1k over apparently. Details of the Lease Agreement: Monthly Payment: $540.27 (495.89 + 44.38 in taxes) Sticker Price (MSRP): $24,400 + $1000 + $2700 neg equity Down: $1000 (says $1500 on the agreement but they say they'll $500 .. not sure why??) Term Length: 5 years (asked for 3 but they would not do it because they said it wouldn't make sense for me because of all the equity I'll have on it) Where I get concerned is that the "Total of Payments" is $33,725.93 on a 24k vehicle! The real kicker is that, if I wanted to purchase the vehicle after the 5 year lease, it would cost an additional $10,142!! Total is $43,867.93 after 5 years with purchase This is the first time I've ever leased a vehicle. .. did I get taken? Thanks for ANY advice! Also, do I have any recourse at all? Can I renegotiate terms at all, 2 weeks after the fact? The dealership people are really nice .. so I'm thinking they may work with me..
