Volt advertisements

    Anyone caught the ads on TV for the Volt? I don't know how they are getting away with calling the Volt an EV.

    The Volt is a Series Hybrid whereas the Prius is a Series Parallel Hybrid.

    They are calling it an Extended Range Electric... either way, it's misleading.

    They've gone to great lengths to emphasize the Volt doesn't drive like that other hybrid, the Prius.

    Yeah, wouldn't want to be confused with a car that gets good mileage, right? :)

    Yep, I've caught the ads and also found their verbiage misleading.

    We all thought the Volt was a pure series plug-in hybrid w/no mechanical connection between the ICE and the wheels, ever, because GM kept saying so, for years. But, it turns out that wasn't exactly the case. See Unbolting the Chevy Volt to See How it Ticks - Motor Trend and http://www.autoblog.com/2010/10/11/gm-yes-the-volts-gas-engine-can-power-the-wheels, for instance. There are already tons of threads and discussion on that...

    pointless. just like their old environment ads that also were misleading. same ol same ol.
