Tranny vs Transaxle confusion

    Sorry for the newbie question....

    In these Forums, there is much reference to transaxle oil and transmission oil. Can I assume these are two names for the same thing, and not separate oil systems?

    Thanks in advance for setting me straight...

    A newbie...join date 2005!!
    But yeah,Transaxle fluid and automatic transmission fluid [ATF] are indeed the same thing.

    Yeah, I drive a 2005 Prius, but I think I proved my Newbie credentials with my question. :p
