I finally traded in my 2006 Honda Civic for a 2010 Barcelon Red IV. This is my 2nd 2010 Prius. My wife drives a II she got last July. I was surprized to learn that my car insurance dropped $130.00. The Civic is 5 years old and is still more costly to insure than a new Prius. The Prius continues to amaze.
Prius FTW. The insurance on these is super low because of the demographic. You don't get many viper owners selling their car to drive a Prius.
That's a pleasant surprise. Concur with the demographics, although I was thinking that since the G3 has something of a glass jaw WRT collisions, the insurance rates would be a bit high. I haven't gathered data on what it would cost for me to insure one for my personal use (47, clean record....) I'll do a stare and compare the next time I gather quotes. I'm glad your rates are lower now and wish you many claim-free miles with your new IV.
Congrats on your Prius. Who wouldn't love a Baracelona Red! My insurance also dropped when I got my Prius. I guess this is another benefit of Prius ownership: low maintenance, great MPGs, reduced insurance rates, etc. .
Wouldn't cost you much. These are cars driven by old people who fancy themselves as practical and/or planet saving but regardless it's not 21 year olds putting bottles of NOS in place of the passenger seat so its insurance rates are wicked low!
Did you used to average about 29 or 30 MPGs on the Civic? 29 is what they are currently rated, combined.
Congratulations on your red prius. It's a pretty red. of course, blue ribbon is faster on the 1/4 mile, but that's not a big deal.
Thank you. I know that Blue ribbon is faster but I liked the red. The last red car I owned new was a 1978 MGB roadster conv.
Then you must be old. Old people drive Prius and Corvettes thus get low cost insurance. Can anyone expand the list of old people cars?
^^ lol In some areas of the country Honda Civics have expensive comp premiums because of theft related to the urban kid street car scene.
With the money your saving on gas in a few years you can buy a Vette..you know a weekend car?? Can you add on to the garage? Ha! I thought When I get old I'll buy a corvette, now I am and I don't want one anymore! Time changes everyone!
My insurance went down from my 2007 VW GTI as well. Such a pleasure to buy a new car and not have the insurance go up
Its funny that you should say that. I have no desire for a vette anymore either. I guess with time comes wisdom.
My uncle who is 56, just bought a Z06 last year, traded in his 350Z for it, his other car is a jetta wagon. I'm interested to see what he gets next.
