I have some scrapes on my 2010 Prius; seems like minor damage but I want to make sure that there's no problem with the undercarriage. So should I go to a Toyota dealership or would a unaffiliated repair facility be OK? Also, any recommendations for good service in the Pittsburgh, PA area?
    Thanks.

Any body shop is fine. Nothing so special about a Prius the paint has to be polished or repaired by a specifically trained tech.

Ask the Toyota dealer where the work is going to be done then check out the shop & compare it to the other shops you are considering. The emblem on the guy's shirt isn't important but the quality of his work is.

You sound as if the minor scrapes are not serious, so why are you asking a body shop to inspect the undercarriage? To me, this is an invitation for them to sell you something. From your post I"m thinking you just need minor painting for scratches? Of course, if your Prius has taken a hard hit that's crushed a panel, okay, I can see wanting an inspection. I think either the dealer or local body shop can handle whatever you need. I suppose whoever is cheaper WITH a proven reputation.

I've never heard of a dealership doing body work. That said, it's worthwhile asking them who they use and recommend. If they're referring a lot of work to some particular shop that shop will likely be more familiar with Toyota models, have ready access to parts, and so on. It's still worth doing your homework as to the body shop's reputation, but all things being equal...

Liberty Toyota has a Collision Center. Holman Toyota sends their business to their Ford location.

We we were rear ended a few months ago and took the car to Priority Toyota. They then sent it from there to Carstruction, a local body shop. BUT some dealers have collision centers that do all the work there..just depends on the location. Just call them and tell them what you need done and they will usually give you a quote. Hope this helps!
