Ask on behalf of a friend who plans to buy a car as early as next week: What are the differences, if any, between the 2010 Prius and the 2011? What one or two things might you dislike about the 2010/2011 Prius? (I love my 2007, but I wouldn't mind being that friend in the market for a 2010/2011)
There is http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii-2010-prius-main-forum/82748-my11-prius.html. I recall another running thread to track difference beyond what was listed there. IIRC, they were either very minor or false alarms (not actual differences).
The price. If any of your friends are high mileage drivers, I'd encourage them to get a 'leftover' '10. I believe that there are only a few cosmetic differences between the two model years.
The only official difference is an additional interior/exterior color combo. Otherwise, a late 2010 will be identica to a 2011. If buying the NAV get DVD version 10. If you are a member go to www.aaa.com to build a car & get up to 3 dealer quotes.
The wood grain trim around the nav system and near the shifter are a nice touch. I saw it in a Toyota showroom on a black IV (i mean four).
I don't think that's a factory installed thing--most likely an aftermarket item, that could also be installed on a 2010.
I wouldn't buy the NAV system from Toyota. I have it and it has been a disappointment, especially for the high cost. My little Garmin StreetPilot c530 does a better job of routing your trip and it is five years old, only cost $350 back then and has never been updated although updating it would cost a lot less than updating the Toyota NAV maps. For less than half the cost of a NAV you can buy an aftermarket unit that will be a lot more accurate in its routing. A backup camera can also be added.
