Engine Check light keeps going on and off?

    So recently my engine check light has been going on and off... Not blinking but it will stay on for a few hours then turn off for a day or so. All the times on and off are different. When I go to get the code checked it turns off... as I leave and get home it turns on.
    Anyone have this problem??

    Start with the simple cheap easy stuff: Is the gas cap not on tight? Is it broken?

    Yeah I checked if the gas cap was on tight or if the battery was properly connected but still keeps turning on and off. Ill try time it again and see if I can find out whats wrong. Normally it turns off when I go get the code read...
