My Rosen Nav Install Pics w/Dash Kit & Hardwired Valentine One

installed the rosen nav this weekend w/the grey "wood" dash kit. i was going to get the flyaudio unit, but they are backordered, and i really like the ability to have built in bluetooth+mic in the head unit

car: prius II, no nav, no jbl
observations:
1. oem texture and with dash kit - i could not tell the slight color difference of the rosen unit
2. AUX port does work out of the box, no additional connections required - used by "aux in" within rosen menu
3. button lights are much dimmer at night than stock radio, about half of the dimmer brightness control... something to be noted but not a deal breaker
4. ipod interface and cable totally worth it. $200 for toyota ipod cable vs rosen = no contest
5. dvd's play easily
6. nav is a bit quirky compared to my garmin, but it's not the worst
7. bluetooth pairs up with my motorola droid and verizon iphone 4
8. as other's previously mentioned, stock speakers sounds much better. the treble/mid/bass are all tunable and easily accessible
9. steering wheel controls all work, and so does changing tracks when on an ipod
10. navigation sounds all come through stock speakers.. nice

unit came with the ipod cable, backup camera cable, and all necessary hardware. i mounted the gps antenna above the rear view mirror where my hardwired valentine 1 is located.

overall i am pretty happy with the amount of money i spent for an oem looking piece, ipod integration, built-in bluetooth+mic, dvd player, and navigation

You are correct that with the dots there the suction cups do not work. I had some leftover clear bra material, so i cut a 3"x1.5" rectangular piece, and placed it where i wanted the V1 mounted. Now the suction cups work like a charm. I believe any other material should work too like screen protectors and what not.

 

yes, bluetooth streaming from my motodroid or the iphone 4 works well. i can change tracks from the phone or with the headunit, but it does not give a playlist like the ipod does.

 

i used the website below to figure out where the files were within the SD card, then just created the file within photoshop. it didn't work well when using my mac and ran into some errors with apple's automatic file creation of hidden files, so i used windows and it was much better.

i mainly changed the loading file and added the new skin to the skin folder. i also used a 800x480 image since i think that was what the rosen was using.

i actually haven't had a chance to get the rear cam wired up yet. i am planning to use the existing acc wire from the head unit for the cam power, along with the video rca cable. there is a reverse wire that i am wiring up beneath the drivers side parking brake which can be referenced at the link below.

i dont know if my method above is the correct one, but i won't know until the cam gets here and i can test it out. if you find different, please post =)

 

pretty much.. and i ran the wire with the weather stripping up the a-pillar until i had to tuck it into the top of the a-pillar panel and across the headliner. when you look at the drivers side a-pillar, weather stripping, and everything, you could never tell that there are actually wires underneath

luckily i didnt have to pop off the a-pillar or the headliner to do any of this. i did see a post in the forum a while back where someone put the gps antenna into the tweeter area, but i didnt want to deal with popping more panels than i needed. i also tried to mount the gps on top of the radio, but that was a complete fail as i couldnt get any gps sat's to connect to the head unit
