    Hey Guys,

I just changed my battery on my 06 Prius to an optima. There is nothing wrong with my regular battery, but I just wanted the upgrade. I have a prius with Smart Key, so it is a larger battery. It would be a nice upgrade for a non-smart key car, or you can just keep it as a spare. If you want it, make me an offer.

I live in South Hamilton, Massachusetts
    (prefer someone local)

No offense, but the market for used, 5+ year old batteries is pretty slim ;)

Yeah I understand that, I am not looking to make money off this, I just want it to used rather than thrown away. Thought it might be a more green option that battery recycling.

You could probably drop it off at a dealership, or other recycling depot around your town. Some people routinely replace their battery, every 2, 3, or 4 years, just treating it like a consumable, like changing the motor oil. In particular cops, ambulance etc, with reliability being paramount. The battery may be totally functional, but they still change it, just as insurance.

If I understand correctly, battery recycling is good, but is not 100% efficient. I don't know if I am making too big a deal out of this, but I guess I am trying to reduce waste. Sending it to be recycled was in the back of my mind, but I guess it is the best way to go.

    Thanks for the input.

If you were just close by, I'd get your battery. I still have the original on my 04 and yours is newer. I know what you're saying.
