I discovered a new feature on my Prius today. Tap the overhead map lights and they turn on/off. Neat! Just thought I'd share that with the community here. I never expected such a feature and never would have noticed it except for an accidental bump as I was loading a few things.
How long have you had your Prius? There is also a great little switch between them. And in most model, they can also turn on and off with the doors opening and closing... Modern Technology - AMAZING!
It's amazing, isn't it? I mean, I've seen something like them on other cars, but they never worked. GM vehicles just set on fire, Fords blew up, but Toyota got it right - you push the map button, you get....LIGHT! ...okay okay okay, enough, I know. Yeah, it's amazing the level of technology in general that has made it into everyday cars.
Ok gimme a break. My previous vehicle was a 1997 Ford Thunderbird. It did not function in this manner. In fact it frequently did not function at all.
It's okay Yam, I didn't realize I had an led spotlight shining down on the gearshift until two weeks after buying the car.
When I purchased my Prius, I discovered another cool feature. It was in the glove box--the owners manual. Perhaps not the most compelling reading, but I always read all the books that come with my cars, so I can take full advantage of all the features and options.
I, for one, think Yam explained everything by his subsequent post. A '97 Ford Thunderbird, fer chrissakes! No more really need be said. Glad he saw the light.
Yam, don't forget there's a rear cargo light switch. I'm not allowed to use maplights at my age because I'm not allowed to go out after dark!
For what it's worth, up until now I had been operating the map lights with the switch. That's the only way to operate them on the other vehicles I've used.
And the owners manual is good reading if your having trouble sleeping. It puts me to bed in about 5 minutes.
gen II does not have that. my only concern is, you might accidentally brush it and leave the light on?
