Hi Dave,
The laminate I used had a

posted on how to do it. Simply placed it on, starting in the center use your thumbs to flatten outwards. Work the bubbles out. I trimmed right at the edge of the lens and it is sticking just fine.
One thing I will say, the laminate is yellowing a bit even though they said it wouldn't. It is however protecting the lens just fine.

I would have to agree they look nice. As for me, if they are there I want them to function too... I didn't spend 100+ dollars for them to work just for a month and then crap outout:

I came to find out it was the switch. Now, if I can't get another switch (preferrably the same) which switch could I use so it doesn't look like a non OEM switch?

 

I believe you said you would put the blanks back in if the lights didn't work. My only position was to leave the non-working lights in rather than the blanks.

Sorry, but I don't know how to get another switch. I believe in this thread you will see people trying to get the switches for other purposes, but have been unsuccessful.

If you figure out how to get the switch, I think many other people here will be interested.

I know this has already been asked upthread, but I'm still somewhat confused.

Can anyone explain the difference between this OEM-Quality Fog Light Kit [PIPL-40C] - $114.99 and the Xenon Fog Light Kit [BL-1038w] - $88.99, both offered through the PriusChat shop.

Are Xenon Kit bulbs are superior?


Also, for anyone who has installed these OEM Lights, how are they holding up?

My lights are holding up well after 3 months. No problems. Only complaint I have is the practicalness. When I have them on, it doesn't seem to illuminate the road that much more over the low beams, probably less than 10%. When I use just the fogs and no other lights they do light up the road somewhat. This is probably partly due to the fact that the car is so low to the ground the fogs aren't able to project the beam more than a foot or two ahead. It wouldve been more useful if the lights came with vertical adjustments.

 

They should have a vertical adjustment. Click on the Fog light URL in my signature for documentation...

 

Thanks for the tip. Your instructions were actually better detailed than the other set I had downloaded from the foglight sticky, especially the suggestion of cutting the tip of the rubber cover in the firewall. I had almost gone crazy trying to poke a hole through there with the coathanger.

 

So were you able to adjust the lights and did it make a difference?

 

Did not get a chance yet since it was late last night and won't be back home until late tonight. Will try it first thing tomorrow morning.

Do I need to remove those flip-down plastic covers on each side to access the adjustment screw or is there already a hole in the cover for the screwdriver to pass through?

 

Actuallythere are holes already but you will need a long shaft Philips driver to work. I had one adjuster that was a bugger though... very hard to turn. Got it eventually.

 

Just ordered the OEM quality foglight kit and was wondering if anyone can tell me what bulb size fits in them? i'm assuming h11?

I'm working on the vertical adjustment now. I was unable to find this hole for the screwdriver so I ended up remove the panels.

Did the DIY you posted contain pictures you took yourself? I don't know if you noticed, but the foglights in two different pictures were actually different. I am talking about the one where you labeled the "beam adjuster". It seems like that is probably the screwdriver hole. However, my foglights definitely does not have this adjustment hole. Rather, it has this quarter-sized silver washer-looking screw with teeth at the edges, which I am guessing is the vertical adjuster. You had another picture about 3 pictures later in the DIY that does show a foglight with this similar set up. I am not sure which way turns what; will have to experiment with this a little bit.

There are two foglight sets on the PC shop. One is the Bling light and the other is the one that most people are probably getting. I got the other one(non-Bling). Do you know if your foglights are the Blings($89)?

 

Yes, there are at least two different kits out there. The nicer ones had the adjusting hole (more OEM like), the others like yours. You will have to play with the adjustment to find the direction... by the way, it takes many turns to see any noticeable difference. Be sure to have a steady backdrop to work with.

NO, the Bling lights are totally different. They don't have the OEM type housing and require a different installation.

My DIY was made up of many contributors. Love this place.

 

10mm bolt removal problem on the turn light to install fog light

Has anyone had a problem removing th 10mm bolt on the turn light to install the fog lights?

turn light? You shouldn't have to touch the turning signal at all. It is just the fog light cover you have to remove.

 

Just be careful with the install of the relay. On the firewall where I installed it per the instructions it got drenched this winter with salt water and is now toast. Anyone know where to get a spare relay?

How long did it take others to receive their fogs after placing an order?

 

Less than two weeks for me. I think the email I received said 7-10 business days.

 

Im having problems with the oem quality kit. I checked the ground, the power, and the fuse and the lights wont come on. The on switch doesnt come on at all. I think I might have gotten a bad switch.
