This may be a simplistic and stupid question, but I can't find anything in the owner's manual. There is a knob marked "tune/file." When I turn the knob, it changes the radio station. The knob also pushes in so I assume that this is the "file" function. I am guessing that "file" somehow keeps track of the various radio stations. I do not know how this function works. Another function that I can't figure out is how to zero out the Trip A and Trip B miles. The Prius has so many gadgets that I would have been helpful to have an orientation. The car was delivered to my credit union with no instructions. Like most owner's manuals, it is difficult to find the answers to my questions. It took me a month to find the slot for the CD player. Any help would be appreciated. I am a new owner of a 2011 Prius IV. David Long Beach, California
Can't answer your Tune question, but you can reset the mileage my holding down TRIP button located on the steering wheel. Make sure your in trip A or B first to reset.
Never noticed that the tune/file knob depresses. In the 2010, the know tunes when listening to the radio and changes the track when playing CD's.
I don't have a 10/11, nor have I been in one but I think I can help. The tune is changing the radio station, which is what you've done. Now, I'm thinking file is for MP3 CD's. You can have a MP3 disc with different files, such as you could have say 50's music in one file and 60's music in another, and 70's in another file and so forth. The file knob will probably allow you to change from the 50's file, to the 60's file. Looks like Livi answered your 2nd question. Hope this answers your first.
I can actually relate to that, ROTFL! The main description of that button starts on page 311. I'm still in the dark though, think it's something to do with playing mp3's, but not sure. The manual is pretty terse. We have used that button for setting up bluetooth phone numbers, it's the most direct and bulletproof method for entering numbers. See page 332. The alternative, to say the number, relying on the car's voice recognition, is maddening...
Per the nav manual: “TUNE FILE†knob Turn this knob to move the station band and files up or down. For details, see pages 151, 156 and 169. On each of those pages, it described the functionality for various audio inputs. File refers to tracks on a CD--from p. 169: “TUNE FILE†knob: Use for direct access to a desired file in the disc. Turn the “TUNE FILE†knob to step up or down all the files in the disc you are currently listening to. The file number appears on the display. When “RAND†or “FLD.RPT†is on, all the files in the folder you are currently listening to can be stepped up or down.
