New to the forum and have found a lot of the advise here helpful. Considering pulling the trigger on a 2010 Prius V. Among the local dealers, I think I can push one to 30k for a V with AT package, mats, and Toyota's 0%. That's even below Great Deal on True Car. But, thought I'd see what people here think. I'm in a situation where my 13 year old car still runs but who knows for how long. So, I could jump now and bet on the car dying. Or, hold out for something better.
I was facing the same dilemma (had a 12 year old camry with 190K miles that needed about 2K of repairs)..my first criteria was getting a high MPG car. One thought was to hold out for a plug-in hybrid model..but I think those will be expensive. Toyota's 0% sealed the deal. I ended up getting a 2010 IV /solar for under 29K..some folks have gotten it cheaper but I wanted the color (blizzard/light gray). I think the V with ATP were going at 31..so you have a good deal (imho) I think you need to make a decision based on what car you have and how much mileage? I usually run my cars to past 120-130K..easy. If it is paid for, running good, low mileage..why the hurry?
MSRP is about 34.2k The '98 Olds only has about 120k miles on it. It was actually my first car (bought new) so it's done well for me. The only concern is to have a 2k+ repair roll in when only 2011 cars on the lots and there are few/no incentives. Obviously, a gamble. For all I know, the Olds could roll for another 4-6 years.
But one has to discard all financial logic and reason when faced with....... NEW CAR SMELL SMELL WAFTING...mmmmmmmmmm! That in itself is priceless.
I am biased but, got for it it sounds like a fair price. I am loving mine and very happy to have bought it. The DRCC and the PCS are well worth paying for the V with the ATP.
