good question. lots of reliability in the main miss firing, my friend has the same model same age and has the same problem, circa 4 coils fitted in 3 years on his 2 in mine. mpg driven like a nun 42 lot lower than they say gutless, no torque at all, 2.0 petrol couldn't pull my bedsheets off. On the motorway in ebb and flow of traffic a transit van could out accelerate me, i had to drop it down to 4th or 3rd and rev the nuts off it keep in the outside lane. appalling in anything but dry roads, in the snow forget it, had to get 73 year old dad to push me earlier this month its got too hard suspension and it was an SE not the spine crushing msport it was very low, at 6'5" it was an effort to get in and out there just wasn't any room in, yes i have the seat right back, in that just about get your fist between the back seat, in the prius theres about 12" getting 67 mpg today, easy drive, high up, brill hifi, sat nav and auto long live the Prius
If you're curious, our smallest-engined BMW 3 series is a 2.5 litre I-6 with 200hp/180lb-ft. It's our "323i". I presume the 328i (3.0 litre 230hp/200lb-ft) is the same as yours as well as the 335i with its 3.0 twin turbo 300/300 spec? Oh and we do get the diesel.... 335d.. 3.0 litre twin turbo 265hp/425lb-ft
it was badged 318SE a 4cyl 2.0lt petrol, probably why it didn't pick up in 6th gear on the motorway, sorry highway! the prius has far better acceleration, and is doing 67mpg uk about 56mpg US ive spent quite a bit of time in the states, and think you've got the cars well sorted, spacious, easy to drive and powerful. the prius reminds me of my times in the states, and if im not mistaken seems to of been developed for the US market which is great for me! i drove a honda odyssey and an infiniti G35 over there quite a bit, great cars, nice wide roads, ah happy memories

Ahh. Well you guys are indirectly taxes on engine size, no? (CO2 --> fuel economy --> somewhat related to the size of the engine). Because there is no such tax here, there is no reason to offer smaller engines (esp. if they get the same fuel economy. I remember BMW offering a 525i and a 530i.. or maybe it was a 535i, I forget. Anyway, the two "sixes" got the same fuel economy and the only reason why you'd get the 525i is because of its lower entry price. The engine was not suited for the vehicle and obviously had to work harder to move the bulk around, resulting in similar fuel economy). I believe the larger 1.8 litre engine waas in response to better highway fuel economy for the US market, yes. The 2nd generation hatchback design was in an attempt to appeal to the European market. I'm happy they went with the hatchback instead of a sedan. They still seem to have packaging issues on the hybrid sedans (Camry, Fusion.. not to be confused with your Fusion, Civic, Altima, HS, GS and LS hybrids).
and navigation/TV nearly 2 decades ago. The IPA (now APGS) was available on the Prius in 2003 (2004 model).
Interesting...my brother-in-law's 2010 320i has also been in 3 times with mis-firing... The HSD is fantastic around town...really comes into it's own and one of the few cars where you can "easily" beat the EPA/official mpg figures. hehe...we got a sharp incline on a busy road here and when it snowed BMW's, Mercedes and Jags were having problems getting up it...your Fords and Vauxhalls/GMs were driving past...I had to help push by neighbour's 535d up his drive last year...took 4 of us hehe Run flat tyres don't help either. My old 1996 323i non-sport had 15" wheels, standard suspension...lovely smooth ride, ate up pot holes and still went around corners like a proper BM. What comments did you get when you went from a BMW to a Prius?
lol good question, all the snobs thought i was stupid, saying i should stick with BM or Mercedes. Really really glad ive not, the Prius is saving me around £160 a month on company car tax and saving a good third off the fuel monthly bill of around £300. In reality i think the fuel will be even better, just driven home about 11 miles, through 2 towns and the rest of 60mph good flowing A roads, staggered to see i got 73.4mpg !!! this was really trying hard and pulse and gliding, it surprised me how fast you can accelerate then back off and battery only i keep 30-43 mph up on battery but keep an eye not to run the battery right down. quite apart from the savings, the auto, the brill sat nav and the music system is brilliant, ive not had a proper go at the auto parking but that seems good to. its brilliant!
I'm not lucky enough to own one yet...but I took one for a morning test drive last summer (bearing in mind that I never drove a Prius before and only briefly read up on pulse and glide), I got 86 UK mpg (75ish US mpg)! Most of that was around town with a couple of junctions of the motor/highway...can't remember exactly how many miles I did but it was 30-40. I was trying to max out the mpg without holding up traffic...I gotta get me one of these!
thats brilliant numbers well done! you will probably feel more at home quicker than we will as its clear its more similar to US cars than UK cars. very few have kick on handbrake and not many at all are auto. i think the temperature seems to make more difference than a conventional car, i got 83 without trying too hard last summer in a run in Prius i used to avoid traffic jams but now with the auto creep and on battery while doing so seeing the mpg going up its a very smug feeling!
