I knew that they weren't going to find anything, because there was nothing to find. It was panic on the user and they pressed the gas sure in the knowledge that they were pressing the brake pedal.

 

There will still be people out there that believe there is a "ghost in the machine" (I think they just like to say that). Apparently, these people are smarter than NASA. Hmm...

 

There will still be people who won't believe the findings because it's a "gov't conspiracy". I knew all along it's a driver caused issue.

 

So will Toyota be dishing out the lawsuits to those who tried to muddy Toyotas name?

I'd hope so. Make them think twice before trying to blame someone else for their own foolishness.

Verdict -Its not a electronic issue, I still think its a software and programming issue which is very hard to troubleshoot through endless lines of code. To this day I still have a surge in my Prius when driving over bumps or rough roads.

They had people scouring over the code as well, according to the CNN article. I would imagine that they cleared that aspect of it as well.

 

Not really surprising. At most I figured some incredibly esoteric condition could cause a faulty acceleration event (like literally one in a billion or more pedal presses) but when this all got going it wasn't long before it seemed user error was a contributing cause in these "events".

I have a friend who's an engineer at GM who told his wife he couldn't believe I'd put my family in a Toyota (we bought it at basically the height of the hysteria). I have a decent grasp of statistics, though, and I like to think human nature, so I saw this for what it ultimately ended up being proven to be: mostly nonsense.

NASA reviewed 280,000 lines of software code to look for flaws that could cause the acceleration. Investigators tested mechanical components in Toyotas that could lead to the problem and bombarded vehicles with electro-magnetic radiation to see whether it could make the electronics cause the cars to speed up"

They looked into all of this over 10 months. And take note this was NOT a Toyota investigation, it was a US government investigation.

The surge you have experienced over bumps is probably the traction control or switching to friction braking from regenerative braking. Sorry you can't accept facts from experts, as opposed to amateur hunches.

 

Makes no sense as Government Motors was basically investigating its competitor.

No wonder why NHTSA gets those complaints

 

While we know Gov't Motors has benefited from this fiasco, finding any problem could have called into question electronic throttle controls from all auto makers. My guess is the dept of transportation and NASA turned over every rock to finding ANYTHING that could influence the throttle system and make it go haywire, in addition to the loss of brakes at the same time. You had to start thinking twice about UA stories when a supposed malfunction in one system cause another malfuntion in another unrelated system. hmmmm.....

 

You should immediately sell your car since you apparently have no interest in figuring out what you are actually experiencing!!
