Hello all, new (used) Prius owner here. What a nice forum, lots of good info. Looking forward to further communications with the Prius community. Been wanting a Prius since the 2nd Gen came out, just got my first Prius 2 weeks ago and I'm excited to drive it. It's a 2005 with 10k, it's slightly wrecked in the front but I've been fixing cars for a while so it shouldn't be too difficult, especially with a resource like this forum to refer to. I've been an auto tech, mostly dealers, since 1980. I'm currently working as a Toyota dealer tech. Believe it or not there are some honest dealers and dealer techs out there. So any questions about dealers and/or Toyota ask away and I'll try to answer.
Welcome aboard! I'm actually going to Seattle this week to pick up my first Prius--2010 Gen 3 (used and being sold by a private owner)! I have a couple of questions for you since you work as a dealer tech: 1. Does the 2-year, 25K miles maintenance plan transfer with ownership (aka--can I get a free oil change and tire rotation on the used car I'm buying (it currently is less than 2 years old and has 24K miles on it)? 2. What dealership do you work at?--if I came in for a visit, would you be able to disable the constant beeps when in reverse and seatbelts are not engaged? Would this be covered under warranty or a free service? Thanks!
Congrats on acquiring your Prius. 10K miles for a 6yo vehicle sounds suspect. The mileage implies the car has not been driven. Maybe the odo is broken, but not reported. Happy Motoring, Tom
It was owned by the state government, they got it in a fender bender in fall 2010, it had that mileage when it changed owners. Probably a vehicle of someone with a desk job that required limited work related trips. You can kind of tell there's not really any wear anywhere, just the crash damage.
Rodland Toyota is Everett has the best prices around, according to my research over the past month or so. I just bought from them last night and they were superfantastic!
Thanks Bham...I love Bellyham BTW...rode my bike from Seattle to your fair city a while back...finished with pizza at La Fiamma and wine at The Purple Smile...and excellent day indeed.
