I put it here because it covers all generations and probably other cars as well. There have been repeated complaints of "problems": "paint problems" - I wonder if this is mainly due to the water based paint -all- new vehicles now use. Many owners of new cars are having their first exposure to this paint. "brake problems" - The Prius brakes -do- work differently than "normal" brakes, and when something is different in the brakes it gets peoples attention. Do be aware that even though they start out operating differently, the Prius brakes do work as any other brake system and WILL stop you -very- quickly if you stomp on them. "glass is fragile problem" - All new cars are using thinner glass to cut down on weight so it's easier for them to meet fuel economy requirements. Thinner glass is more susceptible to visible damage. Where an impact may have left a barely noticeable pit in the older thicker glass, it may leave a "star" in the newer stuff. Here's one I haven't seen mentioned. Pearl just got her -fourth- nail in a tyre in just three years! These are Nokian WR good quality tyres! There must be a "nail problem"!
Agreed on the first 3, but I attribute the 4th to an observed lack of diligence on the part of local contractors. Back in "the day" the workers would sweep a magnetic "broom" around the construction area (road included) to pick up stray nails etc. I can't say that I've seen that process used anywhere locally for the last 5-10 years. Special care is needed around roofing jobs as they seem to generate the greatest quantity of loose nails. Time is money, and taking pride in one's work seems to be a vanishing concept.... (Mike Holmes excluded )
paint is a non-issue people with subarus have always complained about the paint getting chipped it's part of the industry on most "common cars"
That's another problem. Threads keep getting moved around, often to the wrong place. This is quite clearly a car-related issue, and has no business being in Fred's House of Pancakes. You'd think there were enough forums and subforums and subsubforums already to keep it straight what's a V and a v. Is it a van or a versatile or a vagon? It obviously can't be a five, or it would be on MazdaYak. Cheese, Louise.
While it may be a car related issue, since it isn't specific to just the Gen I, II or III, or the new Prius line of vehicles, I agree with Tony; It belongs here. Also, he moved it because it was I who 'reported' it asking the other mods if they also feel it didn't belong in the hybrid news forum. And I had to 'report' it myself since I can only mod within the Gen III forum.
Geeez guys, between this thread and Bob Wilsons last thread, we're gonna have Tony on the therapist sarge's couch. Doesn't Danny provide you mods with therapy insurance? :focus:
I was thinking of that as I wrote my intended-to-be-funny snit. I was going to end it with "That's it. I've had enough. I quit." but I figured it would be too much, and disrespectful of Bob. In hindsight, maybe it needed that to be seen as satire. Sigh. Sorry, Tony. Really, I am.
I wondered if it should be here. At any rate, I have no objection to its' being moved. It -was-, after all, part observation and part humour.
I had the nail-in-the-tyre issue, but here, it was slightly different, as it was in a tire instead. Is that a new issue, then?
Agree. The newer paints are quite soft but it would be nice if Toyota invested in some of the similar technology that MB uses to harder their paints. I wonder if the brake problem is due to the discs/drums and pads that aren't being used regularly? I always have to "clean" the discs by braking in neutral to get the rust off.
