I went to the Detroit show on Friday. The Focus EV looks sooooooo much better than anything Toyota had.

Is it me, or is that v artificially lowered in the rear for the reveal? The rears look like they have a max load on them already. I bet the production version sits up much higher in the rear when it is not loaded.

If you're talking about the picture in the first post, it might be distorted. The rear wheel looks like it's camber'd out.

Since gas prices have started going up, it’s been a real challenge trying to lease a new prius. I had one locked down from a local dealership, when I went to sign, they started with their tactics. So I backed out and lost the car. Back to the drawing board… Since then it seemed as though all the 2010 models have been sold out and the 2011’s had an awful lease program, so I was going nowhere fast. I came across this website googled "prius lease" and priuslease.net came up, so i called those guys. It seems that in February 2011 Toyota came out with a great lease program on the Prius so those guys got me driving my new hybrid in no time. They made the process easy and seamless. Even delivered the car to my house.

I am soooo glad that Toyota got rid of the Gen III's "flying
bridge" console for the Prius v. That console is both ugly
and space inefficient, and is the main reason I passed on
buying a new Prius last year. I see that the Prius v's
console still is imposing, though; it completely separates
the driver and passenger. Perhaps Toyota doesn't
envision the Prius v being taken to drive-in movies. ;-)

Since the flying bridge is gone from Prius v, does that
presage its removal from MY 2012 Prius?

Unlikely. It'll require quite a bit of rearrangement of the wires and such for the climate cotnrol, shifter and of course a redesign of the console to fit an extra cupholder. The radio/nav would also have to be refitted. The most I've seen Toyota do on a dashboard is to add a coevr where there was an open storage space.

The open area of the Gen II and the Prius v made it easier for taxis to put their meter and other small computers and the walkie-talkie. I wonder if they have space with the Gen III's flying bridge.

Searching the web for more pictures, i found the following site:

    2012 Toyota Prius v - Sympatico.ca Autos

i really like the color, much better than the light color of the car introduced in Detroit.
