I have/had a 2005 Prius. Am using past tense as I was involved in an accident 2 nights ago, and from all indications it will likely be deemed as totalled. It was purchased used in early 2009 so I have no idea of what package I have. Googled packages and saw what they included for 2005 model, but then there are other optional features so I am confused. A friend told me that the insurance company is likely to lowball you on the value of the car. So, am in need of help to discern exactly what I have, and it's worth. It's a white 05 (yr already stated). Other than base features it has leather seats, no premium sound. From reading here on Priuschat after purchasing I think it has premium floor mats (such a thing?),a cargo net and a smart key. No bluetooth or navigation. Mileage is 72,000. Can anyone help me determine what else I do have, or not? S/f with understanding, but somewhat clueless about other features that I may have. Could that be found simply by the VIN, or no? Any other advice? If it's a total loss I want to be able to get another Prius with insurance $. :noidea:
When I was looking at buying a Prius I called Toyota customer service adn based on the VIN they were able to tell me what options were installed in the car and that also included portside options. The leather seats were aftermarket. Do you have fog lights? If you do then you also have HIDs.
here's a link to the Toyota website that lists the 2005 brochure. http://www.toyotacertified.com/ebrochures/05_prius.pdf go down to page 6 for the packages...
Thanks for the helpful link! Seems it is a package 4 as it does have fog lights/HID. Don't think the leather seats were after market though. Wasn't that an option?
Here's another link: http://priuschat.com/forums/knowled...andard-optional-equipment-some-countries.html. Leather wasn't available as a factory option until the 06 model year. The reasons I'd heard (not sure if they're true) was that sitting on dead cow skins and being an eco-friendly car didn't really go together which is why Toyota didn't offer leather... I suspect people didn't think Toyota would do so, eventually.
Can't be certain, but did hear they were going to stop offering leather for 2010 models. When I bought mine was surprised that it had leather thinking not so eco-friendly. But after some coffee and coke spills, etc that just wiped right up...I'd really like to have them. Spoke to seller of my old car today. He said that leather was an option for 2005. IDK..they sure looked as if they had always been there.
Where did you hear that? This is for the US? Models IV (Four) and above at Toyota Vehicles : Toyota Announces Prices for 2010 Prius / Toyota include it. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii-2010-prius-main-forum/82748-my11-prius.html#post1155082 and http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii-2010-prius-main-forum/82748-my11-prius-4.html#post1156526 indicated no significant changes for model year 2011 either.
Nope. For an 05, it wasn't from the factory. It was aftermarket, possibly done by the dealer or the previous owner. From the Prius section of http://pressroom.toyota.com/pr/tms/toyota/toyota-passenger-car-chronology-90608.aspx: On the 06, one had to go w/the very top of the line model (NW) just to get leather. It was impossible to get an 06 w/factory leather without nav or Bluetooth. I should know. I went for NL, which has everything except leather since I didn't want leather nor did I want to pay for it. (The dealer joked that NL stood for "no leather".)
