remote won't work if the car is running. Alternatively to #34, you could just close the door and lock with the mechanical key. That saves opening/closing the window.

Nice post. My husband (a Toyota tech) is taking a copy to work with him to show the owners who have questions he may not be able to answer off the top of his head.

I can't think of any other little tricks, other than you can fold down all the seats and put 2 trail bikes in it- just did that last weekend.

Maybe a list of common Toyota accessories? Mudflaps, bumper guard, etc. would be a useful list along with standard prices

That actually reminded me that you can do this with the front seats as well, after removing the headrests (although, maybe that is what you meant). It's useful when transporting lengthy furniture, lumber, etc. Probably not the best idea to do this with the driver's seat while driving though. I often wondered how comfortable this configuration would be for sleeping (again, not while driving).

A suggestion for that blank space at 12:

To turn off the seatbelt unbuckled urgent warning ding:
Of course I always wear my seatbelt on the road, but I live in the country with a rural mail box. I would get out of my Prius to get the mail, get back in, and the seatbelt warning would almost drive me mad by the time I got to my house. You can't turn off the initial dinging except by buckling your seat belt, so buckle up! To turn off that second, unbuckled, warning:

    1. Power on the car to IG-ON or READY. IG-ON will do for this purpose.
    2. Using the Trip/ODO button, set the Trip/ODO display to ODO (not Trip A or Trip B).
    3. Power off the car.
    4. Now power the car to READY (brake on). This is required so that step 6 works correctly.
    5. Within 6 seconds of powering on, press and hold the Trip/ODO button for 10 seconds or more. Powering on while holding Trip/ODO doesn't work.
    6. WHILE STILL HOLDING ODO *after* the 10 seconds, buckle then unbuckle the driver's seatbelt while continuing to depress the Trip/ODO button. This takes some contortion and an assistant holding the Trip/ODO button helps. Now release the Trip/ODO button.
    7. If the last step was successful, "b on" or "b off" should be displayed in the location where the Trip Odometer or Odometer is normally displayed. "b on" is beep on, and "b off" is beep off.
    8. Press Trip/ODO to toggle the mode.
    9. Now power the car off to exit the toggle mode.
    10. Power the car on to READY and confirm the warning beep status by buckling your belt and unbuckling it. The beep should not be audible if "b-off" was selected, and should be audible if "b-on" was selected.

Yes, the procedure is much like the backup beep cancelation, and yes, I found it here on Priuschat.

Where exactly is this on the steering wheel?
Is it on all package levels?
    I cannot find it.

    TIA

It is only on cars equipped with the navigation system.

    Thanks.
My humble Package 2 does not have it. Seems like a good idea though.

I wonder if the button could be added. Those buttons don't show up in the wiring or repair manuals, but I would think it is part of the buttons used for radio control. Would have to empirically determine the resistances needed.

Of course, only INFO would be useful. Also, it may be that the non-nav MFD may not have the circuit for responding to the steering wheel INFO button. Also, I think the NAV is always paired with the JBL system, so the premium head unit may be required.

Info button on the steering only exists on models with NAV.

I am struggling to find the correct place to post this. May be you have a better suggestion than here. I am not sure if the 3rd gen is unique or if the 2nd gen has it as well. But, I have a 2010 and after I changed the oil the first 4 times the cover door (which is a part of the under carriage) fell off my car due to the plastic bending & cracking. The plastic door is designed without a hinge and you must bend the plastic. The dealer reluctantly replaced the entire under carriage, but said only one time. Now the dealer has replaced the oil for the 5th through 8th oil change and the door just broke off again... due to bending at the same place. Is anyone else aware of this design flaw>

here's my suggestion; post your question under Gen III questions ... most likely, here:
    http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii-2010-prius-technical-discussion/
You're in the Gen II section, and the plastic is different between the Gen II and the Gen III. This is a half decade old zombie thread that could have just as easily been placed under the larger thread titled, "Most obscure prius facts"
    http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...2-most-obscure-prius-facts-way-out-there.html
That being the case, many will not bother reading it (again). So, try posting the question over there ... you'll likely get much better traffic.
good luck! . . . . and welcome to PC.
