best practices when we see threads clearly in the wrong area/forum?

Dumb question: I'm not sure if this has been answered already but I didn't find it after some quick digging.

What's the recommended action when we see posts that are clearly in the wrong area? Leave it alone? PM a mod? Reply saying it's in the wrong area? Flag it? Post in an (yet to be created) ongoing thread w/a a link to the misplaced post?

I wasn't sure I should flag it since the page that comes up says "Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts."

    For instance, I've noticed these:
    http://priuschat.com/forums/file-library/86974-tires-2008-prius.html
    http://priuschat.com/forums/file-li...ry-cannot-read-because-its-newer-version.html
    http://priuschat.com/forums/file-library/85821-how-fix-itunes-vista.html

definitely don't belong in "The File Library". There are others...

Probably the easiest thing would be to report the post. In the report, indicate why you think it's in the incorrect forum and tell us where you think it belongs. We'll look it over and if we agree then we'll move it. Like you say, sometimes it's blatant such as GenII information in the GenIII forum.

The Report icon is this one ==> [IMG]. It's located on the left under the information of the person making the post. If the entire thread is in the wrong place, it would be best to report the top post.
Don't be afraid to click it, there are no ramifications to the person. Just tell us what you think needs to be fixed and we'll take care of it.

P.S. That thing about ONLY using the "report" button for spam, ads and problems is to try and keep people from abusing the report function just because someone disagrees with them.

    Cool. Thanks!

As I said, I was hesitant to use the flag (report) misplaced posts as spam, ads, etc. since they weren't.

Yeah, just report it. I moved two and one looks like a spambot.

Can you move mine please? I am sorry I put it in the wrong forum (2010 Prius). The title is: "Gas mileage interface question" from user: Ange the Student.

Report the post, don't post in this thread... Tony explained the process above.
