Well. I hope to soon be the new owner of a prius (if they give me enough for my trade-in and can keep payments in my ballpark). I have my eye on a gray/silver 2005 with navigation, JBL sound system, and cloth seats (tired of my black leather seats) with 53k miles and under $16k price sticker. This is from carmax where we have a good running with them (prius would make car number 7 from them, including my current car. ) It'll be a huge change for me as I currently drive a 2003 PT Cruiser GT with Mopar stage 1 and Diablosport predator that is alot of fun to drive till I have to fill up at 14.2 mpg current average and Premium fuel being required.
Congrats! Just for comparison I got a 2007 with 34k miles before taxes, etc., at $14.7k, the one they're offering sounds a little pricey.
I did find another, for $12k but had 89k miles. Next cheapest are a 07 with 52k miles for $1.5k more or an 06 with 60k miles at same price. The 05 is a Florida 1 owner car according to carfax. I really don't care about the rearview camera so 06-07 doesn't offer much more option wise since I can listen to my iPhone via the tape deck. (already doing this)
Would you mind giving me a quick bulletin point comparison? I just don't see too many differences. Other than higher resolution screen and rear view camera.
Welcome to PriusChat. Since I have a Gen III 2010, I can't help you on your comparison request. I used to drive PT Cruisers and really loved the retro look, and roominess of the car. As you said, the MPGs are awful. That's because the car is so heavy for the size engine. The PT Cruiser is built on the base Caravan platform. Happy Motoring, Tom
I'll miss the PT A LOT! but thats ok. I'll find me another fun toy when the time comes. It's alot of fun just being able to cary a couple of bikes in the back, unload, and jump right on the drag strip and surprise people with my "Slow PT Loser"
These should help. http://priuschat.com/forums/knowled...andard-optional-equipment-some-countries.html http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...ed-prius-need-help-what-look.html#post1215778 http://priuschat.com/forums/newbie-forum/88979-used-prius-buyer-best-model-year.html Other significant changes on the 06s and beyond besides what's listed in the first URL is the optional aux input jack (located in the center cubby) and the claim that the traction control is a bit better on 06s and beyond. There was no audio input jack on prior model years but a tape deck was available.
You really shouldn't pay over $12k for that car. It’s up to you but I would say its 4k over priced. Kelly Blue book says $12,125 for excellent condition. And around $10k for trade in. And retail is $14k But I always go by private owner value only. I say there trying to make a pretty penny off from you. BUT either way, good luck and welcome! http://www.kbb.com/used-cars/toyota...g-report?id=1700&condition=good&mileage=53000
Well. It's going to be a while. I just finished cussing out then laughing at carmax when they offered me $2500 for my 2003 pt cruiser gt with 59k miles, Mopar sub, stage 1 and all options except heated seats and navigation. Same car on carmax.com without sunroof, leather, and 79k miles is priced at $8,600. Like I'm gonna give up my car so you can make a $6,100 profit. Hunt continues. Gonna try local Chrysler dealerships.
I would keep looking... the Gen II that I bought in May 2009 was a Black/Bisque '04 (Pkg 9-- Bluetooth, NAV, JBL) with 66k miles for 10.9k... but keep in mind that was in 2009, and it was in mint condition! I think you can do much better on the pricing.
Thanks. I did see an 07 touring, Bluetooth, no nav(if I remember right), 14k miles for $15,400. Just need to see how much I'm offered for trade in.
