The drivers side seat in my 2010 heats up to 98 within a mile of driving and is quite uncomfortable. While the passenger side seat warms to an acceptable range. Has any one else had this problem, if so has it been fixed.
Greetings and Welcome! :welcome: I'm not aware of any common problems with the factory heated seats, but I have the old-fashioned "derriere heated" seats. Sorry. I did a search for the terms "heated" + "seats" and 'limited' my returns for the G3 only portion of the forum. I got 288 hits, but I don't have time to pick my way through them. PriusChat Forums - Search Results If you don't get a good answer in the "main" portion of the G3 forum, you may want to pop a flare over the Maintenance or the Technicial discussion areas. Good Luck!
Sounds like You have the seat heater turned on. Do you have a little red/orange light on under the flying bridge? That is the switch,
I thought I had a problem too when I first used the seat heaters. Unlike other cars I had heated seats on, the Prius will blast heated seats up, then cycle on and off. I'll feel it cool off then heat up again before I remember to shut them off. It's nice to have them on as I turn my car heater off during the first couple miles to let the ICE warm up faster.
I don't know about the actual temperature of the seats but I have noticed that the driver's side will heat up faster than the passenger side. It's the same on the Camry so maybe it's a Toyota thing.
Mine does get hot when first turned on but if left on it settles out. I've seen others say the same thing. It can get a bit hot but only for a very short time IMO and something I can live with to have heated seats throughout the rest of my drive.
It is controlled by a thermostat that turns it on and off to maintain a comfortable (sort of) temperature. I usually end up turning mine off after 10 or 15 minutes though. If it is getting really hot you may have a bad thermostat, dealer should be able to check it for you.
The driver seat in most every car will heat your body more efficiently since there is a pad in the seat and seatback, while the passenger seat has only a seat pad... and even that may be compromised by the airbag sensor.
Depends on the manufacturer. Toyota puts heating elements in both the seat bottom and seatback on both front seats.
The seats on my IV heat up fast and are too hot to leave on for more than 5 minutes. That's the bad news. The good news is that I love the smell of bacon frying.
Mine heat up quickly and I too have to turn them off within about 2 or 3 min as they feel way too warm for me. Hot crossed buns are nice, but I happen to be wearing mine and don't need burn marks!
