Considering tinting my super white prius, but concerned about if it looks good (with all the side windows) and if it cuts down on already "strained" vision....

I have driftwood pearl. I had the dealer tint my windows to the maximum allowable. I drove it around for about a month before getting the tint. I also have leather and the inside would get extremely hot during August. After the tint the car was much cooler. This translated to better gas mileage as the car didn't have to work as hard to initially cool the car and I was more comfortable when driving.

It also makes the car look MUCH better. It gives it a sportier look.

i have a black prius. i LOVE my 30% tint. love it love it love it! i'd go lower if it were legal.

it keeps the car cooler overall, which reduces summer's effects on battery performance and looks very nice. it also gives more of a feeling of privacy and looks bada**. (censored so as to not offend anyone) B)

We have the tideland Pearl. 15% all the way around. Very nice. Helps keep the glare for the DVD MOnitors in the rear.

All my vehicles have been tinted. I don't really see a reason why not to tint....

Also tinted my Tideland with a metal based film as dark as legal here in TX. I was VERY pleasantly pleased with the way it blends so well with the car's color

    i have 50% front, and 35% back windows, ( i have a black prius).
I'd prefer 35% front and 20% in the back if it were legal.. actually the tint shop offered to do that, but it was a _without a receipt_ -type of deal.

I have a black prius. Tinted all the windows 35% except for the windshield which is 10 or 20% (the lightest available). The tint made a huge difference in the comfort level inside the car. The windshield tint really cut the glare too. The tint on the windshield is so light that it is really not noticeable to the untrained eye. I would highly recommend tinting.

How many Nav-equipped cars with tinting? The owner's manual seems to make a big deal about 'possible' interference with the GPS, but I wonder how often that happens?

Dealer tinting, all door windows plus the large hatchback. They didn't do the area under the spoiler, but it's not noticable except in daylight when looking through the rearview mirror.

I haven't noticed any GPS issues with the nav system.

It's negligible. Seems like I heard one story of someone who had bad GPS problems after ?ceramic? tint of some type and had to have it removed or something, but most of us have had no trouble at all, even with metalic tints.

I've also heard nasty tales of metal films interfering with cell phones. I do not see any problems of this sort with my metal tint.

I thought the whole point of the ceramic tint was to avoid any problems with GPS/Radio/Cell, as the problems are caused by the metal in the tint.

I just got my black 2006 (pkg 6) three days ago and I've been appreciating this forum a lot. Thanks for keeping up the community.

My question is about tinting. The best guy in town is saying that that Prius has their GPS antennae on top of the car, and so no tint in the world will affect the tracking system. Is this what others are finding out?

He has a non-metallic tint that he can use, but it's not as effective of keeping the heat out he said.

Additionally, did most people who got tint do their back windows as well?

    THX,
    david
