I'm in Tonawanda and have been looking for a Prius/Hybrid group to join. Let me know if you hear of one.
Used to work in Victor - wondering how your Prius does in the snow...? Can't imagine mine on rt. 444 with the prevailing westerlies that blow 10 acres of snow into the road....
I live in tropical Buffalo my and my 2012 Prius plugin with snow tires is the designated driver for the weekend Ski trips to Holiday Valley in Ellicottville.
What snows are you using for Buffalo winters? My son snowboarded religiously at Ski Valley (when it was open), Bristol, Holiday Valley and Swain and his trusty 1994 Corolla with all weathers got through everything including trips back and forth to Alfred State on the back roads but I don't have that kind of confidence without 4 wheel drive... but experienced ice last week and the Prius handled fine - not what I initially expected.
I picked up a set of Michelin ice tires mounted on factory gen III wheels from a fellow forum member who lived in Corning NY. He was moving to Phoenix and didn't think they would see much use there. They roll well with 42 psi in them. On Saturdays 124 mile roundtrip I averaged 60mpg per trip display ( no plugin EV assistance ,car was warned up prior to the first leg from earlier errands, lower grill blocked )
I still have to purchase that "insurance" for my Prius... I think I sealed the death warrant for winter storms when I bought a pair of cross country boots... the forecast immediately warmed up down here!
