Keep in mind that is not really a "random" failure as it's almost certain that the previous owner knew about the problem when he sold it (and is possibly one of the reasons why he sold it).
Yes I am sure the previous owner was aware, but I cant blame them.. really the dealer should have spotted and repaired it but as its a non Toyota dealer and its an intermittent problem.. I dont hold much hope of them doing anything to fix it.. Trying to put a positive spin on, when I get this, the water pump and replace the back tyres it should be a nice car!!
Yeah, several of the people I've fixed the CM's for have said their dealer was unable to locate or reproduce the problem. They seem to be loathe to accept there are certain problems that are temperature-related!
