I moved to Canada and required DRLs in order to register my car. I had the modification completed at a Toyota dealer in Montreal, who claim to do the mod frequently. Before the mod, the Smart Key System (SKS) was on occasion unresponsive and I attributed it to the weak battery in the key fob (red LED goes off on the fob). Since the mod, the SKS would unlock doors merely by walking by. Most importantly since the mod, on two occasions after powering down and opening the door to exit, I hear incessant beeping. The same beeping that you would hear if you left the key fob in the ignition slot and opened the door. In both instance the next morning the 12V battery is dead requiring a boost. I suspect that during the DRL mod the mechanic unsuspectingly or expressly increased the power to the SKS. Any suggestions? As a temporary measure, I have disabled the SKS. Getting used to actually using the key fob takes some adjustment!
