10 months driving in the future: a Prius 2010 review

    The heater runs on gazoline - and you don't buy this for economical reasons but for the pure luxury and comfort of a preheated engine and interior with frost free windows.

    It works by heating the coolant and when set temperature is reached, it starts the air flow allowing the cabin to be heated.

    I live in Scandinavia - Denmark - Copenhagen... the mentioned (rare) plugs are for recharging electric cars; running an electric preheater off one of these will properly result in a fine ;)

    Thanks for the information - the plugs I was referring to I saw them in Finland - and at a company's parking lot (not on the street, if I remember correctly) a few years back - there was no talking about electric vehicles really back then, and the Prius (II) was something "interesting".
