I bought my Prius 2010 last December. I am supposed to get complementary toyota care for 2 years (including road side assistance). Dealer says I should get some coupons from Toyota. I haven't gotten anything yet or a phone number to call for road side assistance (if needed). Compare that to myAcura care, I had immediately received a AAA type card for help and roadside assistance.

    Any ideas?

My coupon booklet from Toyota arrived about a month after I bought the car. If you bought it in December, yours should be arriving soon.

I bought mine in June and never received one - and service didn't ask for it...

Don't worry much about the coupons. The dealer might or might not ask for it when you take your car in for service. You don't need the coupon, but it's a little easier on the dealer if you have it, otherwise, they have to enter your VIN into some computer.

However, I received some "extra" coupons for additional service, discounts on tires, accessories, etc. Those might come in handy.

I bought my car in May 2010. Drove out with the coupons and booklet.

It includes service for 1st two years.

I drive less than most so my use will be minimal. I made appointment for 6 month (less than 5K) and when I brought car in, service rep said, better off to just come in at the 5K and they would change oil and rotate tires at same time.

Had to call the dealer for the road service number also. I did notice my Toyota manuals did not come in any holder or case, just put in the glove box.
As others have said, oil change and tire rotation, you can bet it wont be all the stuff stated in the maint.sched.
That 100 point inspection stuff that dealers talk about on certified used cars, is
    1-it runs and drives
2-it doesnt leak and fluids on the ground(badly)
    3-it stops
Drove a ceritfied used MB, $40m car, at 70 shook so bad wife asked what was that, then see saw the steering wheel moving in my hands. Salesman was red faced. It was a good laugh.

For two oil changes I think I will just continue to do my own. (but the sales pitch sounds good!) I used 0-20w on my Honda Civic Hybrid before switching to the Prius.

    Hello,

I have a few questions about getting oil change and I hope someone can help a new Prius owner.

    1. Although 10k internval is recomended, if I want to get an oil change at @ 5K at the dealer. Does anybody pay for the oil change but get the rest of service (Tire rotation, multi point inspection, etc included with Toyota care) free?

    2. When requesting for oil change, does the dealer use synthetic (0W-10) oil automatically or do I need to request it?

    Thank you in advance.

The dealer is supposed to use 0W-20 synthetic, not 0W-10. Always ask what they use before getting the work done. Don't ask if they use 0W-20, make it an open ended question so you aren't guiding them to the right answer.

The freebie 24 month services are supposed to cover the services listed in your warranty/service manual.

If you want the extra oil changes at 5k and 15k, you will need to pay extra for them.

as long as the car is within the 2 year period it does cover it,this is based upon my dealings with my service shop, i bought my car in for its first sevice at 6 months, they didnt do anything because it had only 2500 miles on it, but they would of done it if i said so, they said wait till i get a little over 3000 miles on the car, then bring it in for the service, which should be next month or so

Yes, I just had my 5,000 mile service a few days ago. When I went into the dealer they had a form and it asked if you wanted any "extra" services and one they listed was oil change. Actually it said oil change and filter, I think it said 0W-20 but I just assumed it was the Toyota "correct" oil. The price was about $55 and except for the tax and disposal fee that was the only additional charge, everything else on the 5,000 mile service was included. Service didn't bat an eye when I asked for the oil change, it might be a bit over-kill but in 20,000 miles I'm only going to pay for 2 of them, so cost is minimal. It just gives me a warm fuzzy feeling not to push my oil 10,000 as at times I've been known to drive like 22 straight to SPI. So if you want to change oil at 5,000 miles do it, for $60 it's not too big a deal.

    If you do a lot of miles like myself it covers the 1st 5 services at 5, 10. 15, 20 & 25k
It does not cover the 30k service

for average drivers...a couple of oil changes, few tire rotations...and roadside assistance. Multi-point inspections and fluid top offs are not even worth mentioning (cost wise). At the time of sale, they make it sound so great. We are talking a few hundred bucks...on the high end. I would have rather opt'd for free satellite radio package for the equivalent price.
