Climbed into Hal, this morning, stepped on the brake, pushed the "Power" button, and . . . nothing. Well, a couple lights I hadn't seen before, but no "Ready". Hmm. Tried it again. Same result. It finally dawned on me -- even with a smart key, you have to HAVE THE KEY WITH YOU! Sometimes it's just a simple thing. And sometimes the thing that is simple, is me.
My car scared me like that one day too. I got in (did have the key with me) and pushed the button. The dash display lights came on, but the car was deathly quiet. I thought my car was dead. Turned it off and tried again with the same result. Then it dawned on me that the last time I had used it, I had turned the AC blower off. So the car was perfectly fine and operating normally. It was just silent cause the engine hadn't kicked on and there was no fan blowing. I was sure relieved that there was nothing wrong!
Most of us have hopped into other cars and looked for the (POWER) button before it donned on us that you have to actually take the key out of your pocket, insert it into a slot and turn it in order to start the car. How last century!
