I am considering tinting the windshield with either the Llumar 80 or a ceramic 60. Does anyone have any of these on their windshield? Specifically, I am concerned about visibility at night (glare, hallos, etc.)
I have 40% on my windshield of my FJ along with 20% on the other windows and it is totally fine.....I do live in South Florida so it is pretty much sunny all the time And on the Prius I have 15% all around with just a strip on the windshield.....and I think I may do 40% on the Prius windshield because it is just so big and lets in too much light plus I dont like to wear sunglasses
Do a metallic tint for your front windshield. It's not a charcoal colored tint so the cops don't pick up on it as fast. Llumars PP 50 metallic tint looks like a nice Cadillac esclade windshield where it reflects the clouds and sky across your windshield And does a front windshield tint help??? Yes it does. It helps at night by reducing on coming traffic's glare and especially those badly aimed hid beams. It reduces heat in your vehicle and the glare of the sun. Going below 35 in my opinion is a absolute no no. When it rains heavily visibility drops substantially. a 40-50 percent tint in my opinion is just right. ** For the people I know that are about to say this is illegal** Yes we all know it is... thank you
I have ceramic 60 on everything but the windshield. At the time that was being installed I was concerned about visibility/glare so I postponed it. It would be good sun protection-wise if visibility checks out. I'll ask about metallic, just in case.
Your pockets must run deep if you can afford to install quality ceramic on all your windows haha. You have my respect for the high end film
I just tinted my Prius on Monday, its been overcast and raining here so I really can not give a good before and after comparison, I like it though. I had Llumar 40% ceramic installed all the way around except the lower rear window. On the windshield I put on Llumar Air Blue 80, I have already forgot that its there. Windows are still curing and the installer said to wait 30 days before cleaning the windows so I will be able to report more then. I know others here have wondered about the Air Blue with polarized glasses but my shades are polarized and I could not see anything different. Aloha, ED
Had my 2010 Prius V tinted again a week ago. Took off the 3m colorstable 35 and replaced all windows including the windshield with 3m Crystalline 70. Really happy with hte amount of heat that is being kept out but the windshield isn't as crystal clear as I would have liked. I think is that the extreme angle of the windshield is revealing a little waviness in the tint film. It looks a little like the effect when heat is rising from the road. Not that extreme but can be a little distracting if you look at it. Side glass looks great, but that glass is almost at 90 degrees to occupants. If I had to do it over again I'd probably go with the 90% level as my LED headlights look a little dim when looking through a 70% tint.
I purchased this car in Florida as a dealer trade, it came tinted all the way around except the windshield. I have no idea what sort of film was applied—probably cheap stuff but who knows—nor what percentage it is. My first experience with tinted windows, and I really like it. I'm not sure I'd want the windshield tinted, for some of the reasons mentioned above. Perhaps a strip across the upper edge, but not all the way down.
We had the windshield done on our 08, I liked the look from the exterior but didn't care for it looking out. There were certain times/angles that you got the "halo" effect. We just got our 2011 tinted and left the windshield alone. JMO
getting the tint off the rear window? did you just break it and get a new window? isn't the defroster impossible to remove tint from?
Why do people not in CA say this crap? It IS legal as long as you abide by the legal shading numbers. Correct your post, Teak??
