Ok so I have searched the forums and have found a few slightly similar issues, but nothing exact. Here is my issue. Today while listening to XM the audio on my 2005 prius just quit. I can hear the audible beep when the radio powers off, but no audio from am/fm/xm/cd/dice. I have disconnected the dice, but the issue is still present. All the other functions are fine, no AC control issues, Consumption is fine. This is the basic radio with xm and dice added on. I am wondering is there some sort of amp that could have a blown fuse that controls the power output to the speakers. I looked at the fuse box under the hood and didn't see anything that pointed directly to it. So I think I covered everything.
If you blew a fuse your radio wouldn't turn on. There's no amp for the basic radio. You could check the connections from your radio to the speakers, otherwise take it into the dealer or get a new head unit are your best options
So this morning while I was driving the audio magically came back. It was for just a second then it came back for a minute and now it has been on for 30 minutes. I think I have a loose connection or a short.
Check your XM receiver. When my Sirius unit went out I lost all Audio. I had it replaced and the audio came back.
