I got my Prius since May. Now when it rains at night, it gets a bit hard to see. Mayb due to the fact that I park my car out door.
So I was thinking getting glass treatment. I saw Rain-X and Aquapel. From this website, and also reviews on Amazon, seems like Rain-X doesn't last too long. I am planning to get Aquapel since they claim it'll last up to 6 months. Anybody else like to share some experience here?
    Thanks in advance.

I can't speak for anyone else but Rain-X has lasted a LOT longer than the time period specified (30 days) on the Aquapel web site. Of course, I would sort of expect that coming from the manufacturer of a competing product.

The FAQ on the (PPG) Aquapel web site states that ammonia-based cleaners will not affect the durability of the product. On the other hand, I read, on a windshield repair kit distributor's web site, that the best method to remove Aquapel prior to performing a repair was to use their ammonia-based glass cleaner! That same site stated that their ammonia-based cleaner was ineffective for removing Rain-X.

    FWIW...

i use rain-x every 6 months and have since i owned my first car.

it's very effective, even in winter snow and ice, and also makes bug splatter easy to clean up.

can't say i've even heard of aquapel...

I use a product called Invisible Glass http://autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?UseCa...7ESTO%7C%7Etrue

Using this on the outside and inside of my windows makes them spotless. It is truly fantastic! Since I have begun using this product, I haven't needed to use Rain-X. My windows come clean with a single swipe of the wipers and the water beads up. The other bonus is that they are always crystal clean!

It seems that the Invisible Glass leave your windows with a nice coating so that dirt doesn't stick easily. I wonder if a combination of the two products would yield a superior windsheild finish?

clean with invisible glass 2-3 times, then apply rain-x twice for a good coat.
then clean again with invisible glass to remove all remnants of rain-x haze. works like a charm, takes maybe an hour every 6 months.

    Thanks!

I'm just amazed at the wealth of knowledge I've accumulated over the past month from being on PriusChat.

And once again, the members don't disappoint.

Looks like local Pepboys is offering Aquapel Glass treatment for $9.99 thru Oct. 31. I might just give it a try and see what the result is.

No problem. The only down-side to the Invisible Glass product I have found if that it is an aerosol product. I'd be much happier if they made the product in a spray bottle.

I use the Rain-X windshield washer fluids (bug and de-icer) and get a decent amount of sheeting when the rain is heavy. I'm not sure I'd get a lot of extra benefit from a separate treatment...

Sounds like a service. It says "$9.99 most vehicles*" and then this:

*Actual price may vary depending on vehicle make and model. A Shop Supply Charge of 5% up to $15 may be applied to certain services. Each individual Work Order will identify any applicable Shop Supply Charge.

You can buy the product from Tire Rack and apply it yourself, too:

Tag, I saw it on tire rack too. But after shipping and you'll have to do the work, I think $9.99 is worth it. But then it mention the whatever supply charge up to $15. I'll call tomorrow and find out.

    Ok, just to follow up.
I applied rain-x and invisible glass like galaxee said.

Two weeks ago, the first time it rained after I applied rain-x, it works so good I was about to show everybody I know. At speed above 40 mph, the rain just runs off without using wipers at all.
Last night it rained again. Seems like rain-x already wear off. Water didn't run off like before even at speed 50+mph. But water was easier to wipe off than before. Kinda disappointed that rain-x wears off that fast.

Any idea where to get them? I looked in my local Autozone and Pepboys, but couldn't find it.

This may only be applicable to Canadian Toyota dealerships but today I received the Toyota Gazette, an 8 page glossy flyer which quotes the Aquapel windshield treatment for $29.95 CAD + tax and states it lasts for 6 months. I know this product is discussed briefly in a few above posts in this thread but I'm not convinced yet and wonder if anyone has had the treatment and experienced good or bad results after this past winter driving....does it really last 6 months?
As an aside we were given a neat little crank up flashlight with the Toyota logo after our service job was completed ....... no big deal just a nice gesture and it's good quality .... 1 min cranking and it lasts 20 min with an efficient light .... don't have to worry if I've kept fresh batteries in my old one.
