Well it's now official, We're a two Prius Family. Currently I live in Manassas, VA. and work in DC so we use the Prius to commute in every day, 40 miles one way. My 2006 Prius has over 110,000 miles on it and is still doing fine. I also own a 2003 Tundra (Step-side...the last Step-side model) and a 1996 4Runner. (Hey, what can I say...I like Toyota's....I even owned at one time the original Toyota Van and replaced it with a later version when the kids were small) The 4runner has been through a lot. It was my car, then passed on to my eldest son who drove it for 5 years, then it was passed on to my youngest son. In it's live I've had to replace the motor. Had the electrical system redone due to an electrical fire, Been broken into twice to steal the radio(s). So it's been through a lot. Over Christmas I decided that it (4runner) has had a good life with us and needed to be replaced. My wife and I decided to buy a new Prius and move the old (2006) Prius back to Texas for my son to run around in. Hey any excuse is better than none. So we started doing internet searches for 2010 Prius IV's. Got a quote from one in Mckinney, TX., too steep and not willing to come down anymore. Was starting to talk to another dealership in Dallas when I found a listing for one at the Manassas, VA dealership for 24, 760 as an internet special. Called them up and bought it over the phone. (never did that before). They held it a week for us while we were on Christmas Break, and we flew back to DC on the 2 Jan, and pick up "SILVA" on Monday. Tomorrow, Sat. "SILVA" gets the VentureShield treatment just like "RED" has. Well almost like...I'm adding a strip along the roof above the windshield and the "A-Posts" as well as a strip across the top of the rear bumper. Now I have to move the Prius from DC to Dallas....Roadtrip......Anyway, As I said we're a 2 Prius family. Now looking to sell the 4runner in Dallas...any takers????? later Amtrak115
Thanks. You don't know how refreshing it is to see this choice of phrase: " My wife and I decided to buy a new Prius". You sure you weren't FORCED by the wife? Aren't buying it FOR the wife? The more insecure among us, seem to need to frame the purchase of a Prius as being a act initiated by the female significant other.... Finally nice to hear someone who bought The Prius "with" the Wife....
Congrats! We are now a two Hybrid family, but couldn't talk my wife into getting a Prius, I had to bribe her with a HS250h!
I am the Prius aficionado in the house. When my wife wanted to get rid of the 11 year old car she was driving, she didn't care what she drove, she just wanted a more reliable car. So now she is driving my 2008 Prius and I am driving a new 2010. Such a deal!
Congrats on your new Prius! Did your dealership happen to be called Miller Toyota? That's where I got my Prius.
Count me in, we are a two Prius family. Would it be "Prii" as the plural? A Blue 2009 and a Red 2010. BTW, I do like the 2010 better but the Generation 2 does have a rock solid reliability record. The reason I got the new one red so my wife would not steal it. She has to have a blue car. Red also looks a little sporty and could not be more pleased. :car:
We are a two Prius family too. I drive our 2005 white Prius while DH drives our 2010 pearl white Prius. He has to drive to work while I stay home and run my web server. Our 2005 Prius, purchased in October 2004, has only 63,000 miles on it. I've never driven a better car.
Us too! I just got a 2010 III on Monday to go along with my 2008 pkg2 that is getting up in mileage (160k). Love the Prius!
I can add another family to the list - I have a 2004 Prius with 105K miles. The 1995 Ford Escort was needing new tires and a battery. With 210K miles, I anticipated other needed work (radiator, alternator and other stuff all original), so we went shopping for a new car. We considered Ford Focus or Prius II. When looking at a Focus, my wife happened to ask if they had any used Priuses available. We now have a second Prius, a 2008 Touring Edition, Red. I am actually a little jealous of her new car!
Interesting. I bought the Prius for me and my wife was really surprised. She had just bought a mini cooper S and I had big v8 vehicles and her pass me down 4 cyl z3 (250k miles). I used the z3 more than the trucks/suvs for mpg purposes and decided to buy for mpgs. Looked at the cooper but for the same prius, got the prius. She now borrows the prius for long trips!
Congrats! We have 2 2010 Prius's. 3 if you count my step mom. What amazes me is how much the little car can hold. We have had an unfortunate event where I was forced to move my office due to a fire next door, and I packed the car so I couldn't see out the back. Boy did I fit a lot of stuff in it. 4 times. Made me wish I had a truck....
After we bought I Prius my main regret at the time was possibly such a high mile lease; if I'd gone lower I could have gotten two Priuses instead.
Count me in also, we have a 2010 Silver III and a 2010 Silver IV. Traded in the 2005 Blue Pruis VI for the III and our old Chrysler 300M 1999 for the IV. We are very happy being a two Prius Family!
I was shopping for a new vehicle for my wife. Once we decided that the Prius was the way to go, we ended up getting 2 of the 2010 mo dels. But she made sure she got the better model. Vic
