I thought I will post this thread as I see too many "disappointment" threads. Wanted to hold off on posting until I break in the car a bit more..but here it goes..I have just driven about 250+ miles in my brand new car..since I got it 10 days ago. I used to be driving a Acura SUV but got tired of putting $60 gas/week. We had another Camry that needed replacement. So we bought the Prius 2010 IV. I totally love it and strangers have actually asked me about the car when I was parked for shopping. It is the Blizzard Pearl color. So..after a couple of days of coming from SUV to a car, I had the usual adjustment..but now I am so used to it. I am getting about 45 mpg..which is good as I am doing a bunch of small rides..I don't find the road noise to be any excessive..I used to drive an Integra for 10 years and the MDX had some noise too..So guess I am not picky. I love the fact that my gas guage is still almost half full. I am reading the manual..there is quite a bit of techy stuff..that I need to know..I am happy with my purchase and proud of my Prius. To anyone that watches 'Top Chef', the quick fire challenger got a brand new Prius too !

Welcome! I too just got my first Prius about 10 days ago. I've got about 365 mi on mine so far. I'm getting about 41mpg right now, but I know it will improve as I get more practice and when the temps warm up. So far I'm happy with my purchase. I'm coming from a '98 Saab, which I loved, but THAT car has big road noise, so by contrast, the Prius is much quieter as well as at least twice as fuel efficient.
Congrats on your new Prius. I love your optimism; i.e. the gas tank is half FULL, rather than half empty! IMO, it's okay to be "picky". Happy Motoring, Tom
Thanks all ! I have realized that my Trip was not reset after the dealer so I will only know my real mileage when I fill gas to the full again and reset the trip.
Got my new 2010 III with solar pkg. LOVE IT!!!! Just got fuel for the first time. After 363miles, took less than $20 to fill the tank!!!!!! WOO-HOO!!! Got the back up beep changed to single beep by the dealer yesterday.
