It would not be impulsive of you to buy one today or this week, while going in for your "test drive." You've asked endless questions and been given tons of advice.

I feel we are close people, like the end of a movie. LOL. GOOD LUCK! I can't wait to roll the credits on this thread.

That's a bit tough. I rented a 350z a few years ago when I was out in New Mexico and I fell in love with the car. That and a Miata are the 2 cars that put a huge grin on my face when I drove them. You can call either of them a hairdresser's car - I'll take either any day for an fun as heck car to drive.

Once again, it takes a real man to wear a pink shirt, eat quiche, etc.

i.e., Real men don't give a good rotten damn about what other people think. Other people are after all, other people.

    Meanwhile, I'm driving a 2003, wussy wannabe-SUV, Honda CR-V :(

toyota's early ads for the 2010 showing the tiny white Prius surrounded by singing munchkin hills and flowers did not exactly project a manly image!: :p

Just had to share this comment a friend left on my facebook page yesterday (under the pic of me with my new Prius):

"Sad to hear about the Saab. But good to know. Toyota = reliable. Not exciting, but reliable. A sad choice to make..."

    Wth!

    How rude!

My public response back (I was trying to be polite): "It was a happy choice! 50 mpg and quite peppy. Lots of cool tech. Been wanting one for about 2 yrs now. :) "

Her response back: "Oh. Well THAT'S ok then!"

    ------------
Seriously...people are so ignorant. Someone buys a new car and you post something to them about it being a sad choice? Yeah, thanks Debbie Downer. A new car is not a 'sad' choice. It's a CHOICE the owner makes among hundreds of models of cars. Geez I'm sorry it's not something exciting like a Ferrari, but it's what this owner wanted to buy.

They have no idea how much fun the two engines open up. Prius never shift gears. It continously shift (electrically) between the two engines. It opens up a whole new world.

    Hi Coach81,

Hmm, now that this comes up, I had not noticed before, but the marketing side of the 3rd General Prius has been a bit off-kilter from the actual car. Its almost like Toyota has been doing one of these EV-1 marketing fiascos....

Its almost they forgot who buys Prius cars. 25 to 55 year old people who are relatively settled, but ended up with a job and residence somewhat seperated - so they need good mileage. Younger people can usually just pick up and move closer to work. And so the need for a high mileage car is not as important as the desire for a "neet" (whatever is percieved as neet in their peer group) car.

And as men tend to drive the longer distances, on average, why are they only doing marketing towards a feminine buyer?

Just plain dumb. Thank God the Toyota Engineers got their heads screwed on right, because marketing sure doesn't...

    Hi all,

I like to call that nega-seconds. It saves about a second from zero to 60 . So, you do not need more power for the same acceleration time.

Lol... Your story sounds a little like mine. I told my wife that I was thinking about purchasing a Prius. She laughing and told me to go buy a truck (Toyota Tundra). So, I rented a Prius for a week ($38/day). The family and I drove the car from Las Vegas to Los Angeles (so the wife could go shopping, LOL). Now, the wife wants to get ride of her Camry in order to purchase a Prius for herself. Last but not least, and not that it matters... I have a 956whp Toyota Supra as my weekend warrior (and my daily driver, at least until I go buy my Prius). LOL...

I can't say I've seen that Prius ad here in the UK, but it sounds very much like Honda's ad for their "cleaner" diesel engines that they ran a few years back.

Hey Coach I had the same thing from various family and friends. I was driving 60 miles a day in my 06 Mustang GT and gas was killing me and when people heard I as going to get a Prius they made a big deal. My wife wanted me to get a Jetta or Subaru and now that I have the Prius she wants to drive it more than her Fusion. I also am a coach and whenever I hear anything about it now I make sure if it is warm I drive the Mustang and they generally keep quite. People hate because they just don't want to admit they would love a Prius if they actually drove one.
