It seemd to be a great day for the Prius yesterday on TV. First, Oprah featured Leonardo DiCaprio on her show. He is quite the environmentalist. He drives a Prius. They featured the Prius in a couple of segments and talked about it several times in a positive light. Even Oprah mentioned after viewing a story on hybrids that the Prius is a cute car. She thought all Hybrids were "dorky" looking until she saw the Prius. It was a great show. Also, on Headline News last night they featured the Consumers Reports most reliable cars. #1 was the Prius!! If anyone watched Desperate Housewives last Sunday, there was scene when someone was answering their door....while they were talking to the person at the door, a Prius drove by on the street. I gotta believe that was planned since it was on the set and not "on location".
Right on!! By the way That Leo Prius commercial was even on in Japan with subtitles the other day. Go Prius!
On the show they had Larry David's wife driving her Prius and I noticed that it was the same color as the one in your sig. Is this a Japanese color only? It looked very good.
Is this the color you are talking about? If so, then yes, it's only available in Japan (not sure about Europe) [Broken External Image]:http://www.ribghe.org/Maggie/blueprius.jpg
I don't understand what the whole issue with color is ANYWAY. For a car that's so advanced (at least in terms of it finally materializing and making it out into the market (as we know, the technology has been around for many years)), from a company like Toyota, would it be THAT much MORE of a pain to add a few more additional colors? Reminds me of that old quote from Ford, "You can have it in any color as long as it's black..." I mean c'mon this IS 2005 right??? I mean, is there something about the painting process that makes adding several more colors economically "ill-proportioned"?
A Prius made a cameo appearance during the last episode of "Desperate Housewives." Rewind your DVR's.
Last night I was watching this week's 'King of Queens' episode, and Adam West (Batman!) guest starred. He mentioned that he drove a Prius. And, being a sitcom, they didn't show the whole car, but the characters sitting in a car that was oh-so-vaguely Prius like that was supposed to be his Prius. He and the passenger very briefly discussed the Prius being 'cool'. Also the 2 most recent movies I've seen at the theatre, "Must Love Dogs" with Diane Lane/John Cusak and "In Her Shoes" featured Prius-driving characters prominently in both films.
Yes. Colors are expensive. Mixing, matching on different materials, durability of the additives used to make the colors, fade testing, aesthetics, etc, etc, etc. By the way, did you know that white rusts more? It's the Titanium Dioxide in the paint that accelerates the corrosion process. Nate
I saw a TV segment today with Adam West and someone (I think one of the Catwomen actors). They got into his Prius and drove off. Commentator mentioned it was a custom painted gold and green. Didn't get a good look at it, though.
My favorite Prius on TV is the season 3 episode of "Weeds" where the Prius is used in a drive-by shooting. Drive-by shootings are a serious problem, but when done from a Prius gliding silently by was funny. Rotorhead
