Don't forget that I'm a supporting sponsor of PriusChat and a percentage of the proceeds from every policy that I sell here goes back to PriusChat to support the forums. So you're not only getting a great deal on the plan itself, you're also helping to keep PriusChat the great resource that it is.

I have a 2010 Prius IV with 64K miles. My extended warranty will expire in about a year. What does a warranty cost after 100K miles?

    Thanks,

    Rich

    Hi Rich,

Sorry, there's nothing I can do once you're outside of the original 3 yr / 36,000 mile factory warranty period. Toyota doesn't have a provision for upgrading or extending existing plans. So once that runs out your only option would be to look into 3rd party plans. I'd probably give AAA a try.

    Happy Holidays!

How do the Toyota prepaid maintenance plans work now that Toyota is giving 2 years of free maintenance? Should I wait until the 2 years is up before purchasing or does warranty shack prorate the plans to start after the 2 year Toyota plan ends?

    Hi Troy,

We just bought a Prius V with Nav yesterday @ San Francisco Toyota. What kind of extended warranty deal can you offer us for 125K miles? And please tell us what this covers.

    Thanks,
    Karen

Do you offer the same or similar warranty on Lexus vehicles?

    Hi Troy,

I bought my 2010 Prius 2 weeks ago and just today started reading this thread. After seeing your quote I felt sick to my stomach when I realized what my dealer charged me for a 4yr/100k mile Platinum contract w/ $100 deductible: $1788!

I put in the quote request with you. I really hope the dealership doesn't give me a major hassle about canceling it. I seem to remember the financing manager insinuating that I should buy my service contract from them or they didn't consider doing my auto loan "worth it" to them. I hope this doesn't mean they will try to cancel my financing if I cancel their Vehicle Protection Plan.

Does anyone know if they can do that?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Oops, also -- I'm in NC. Any problem doing a contract with me?

You should PM Troy, he doesn't post very often. You only have 30 days too act, so don't wait.

IIRC, you have 30 days to cancel your extended warranty/service plan. Go by what the contract said, not what the dealer tells you.

If your loan is approved and signed and there is nothing in that contract that makes the loan contingent on you buying a service plan, they can't cancel it for that.

If the finance managers lips were moving he was lying to you.

-re: PM - Thanks. I just did.

-re: Other info - I plan on canceling it tomorrow. Good to know they can't try anything funny. Thanks.

    They can try:D

Please do us all a favor and don't tell them you are canceling because you can get it for less online.

As long as you didn't originally purchase your car from either the Gulf States or Southeast Toyota regions. In those two regions the complimentary maintenance plan is a regional version through the distributor and there's nothing I can do to upgrade them.

Everywhere else in the country the complimentary plan is administered by Toyota Financial Services, and for those plans they also have 1 yr / 10K, or 2 yr / 20K upgrade available which I can sell at a discounted price.

For more details and a quote just send me a PM or an email...or preferably fill out the WarrantyShack quote request form.

Thanks and I hope everyone had a Happy New Year!

It's unbelievable to me that dealers are still doing things like this. They cannot cancel or change your financing on you. In fact, it's actually against the law for them to make your financing rate or approval contingent on your purchasing another product.

    Check your PM's.

I have a 2008 Prius that was purchased in Oct 2007. It's got 62k trouble free miles. Can I still get an ext warranty for it? My main concern would be the battery.

From what I've read on the first page of this thread, you can only purchase the extended warranty until you are at your 3 year/36k miles.

Did you fill out the form here: Toyota Extended Warranty Quote Request | WarrantyShack ?

I am at 35,400 miles and want to get my warranty ASAP. Would prefer to go through Troy who seems honest and reliable. My dealer wants to charge me more than $2,000.

    Thanks!

Yes Troy is honest and reliable and will save you a bundle. I think Troy is Warranty Shack but why not give him a call or email him to be sure? His phone number and email link are at the bottom of his posts.

Is the discounted extended warranty available in Canada?

    Thanks for your time.

Coverage is good in Canada, so there's no problem as long as it's originally a U.S. vehicle. However, if it's a Canadian model then it gets a lot more complicated. Send me an email if you'd like more info.
