I just bought a 2007 Prius (Package 6) from a dealer about 3 weeks ago. I have started having problems with my Smartkey when unlocking the doors. Sometimes everything works fine and other times I have the problem below. When I approach the car and push the unlock button on the smart key remote, the car alarm goes off (lights flash and horn sounds). I have to push the unlock button again to get it to stop. Sometimes when I approach the car with the smartkey in my pocket (which usually allows me to unlock doors automatically), the alarm goes off as soon as I get next to the drivers door or hatch. Again I have to pull the smartkey out of my pocket and press unlock to get it to stop. What's causing this problem? Any help would be appreciated.
The car is under warranty, right? Take it to the dealer for resolution. It sounds to me like there is a problem with the smartkey.
