My wife was constantly after me wanting to drive my Prius. I told her to buy her own and she did. She is actually selling her Avalon to buy a Prius. I know the Prius is not as comfortable as the Avalon and I wonder if she will really like the comfort factor on daily commutes. How many have more than one Prius in the family or traded or sold a bigger car to get one?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(DAT1 @ Jun 17 2006, 04:46 PM) </div> There's a thread on 2-Prius ownership somewhere. I think about half a dozen (or a few more) of us have two. At least one family has two of the same color and year. For your purposes (of inquiry), many who "stepped down" to a single Prius sold or traded in Mercedes-Benzes, a Lexus, an Acura, Buicks and other presumably comfortable-riding cars. Many stepped down from pickup trucks and at least one Suburban. I don't remember anyone saying they sold or traded a Cadillac, Town Car, Navigator or other large SUV. But I may have missed some.

I'm waiting for gas to hit $ 4.00 a gallon nationwide so people will start dumping their gas guzzling SUVs for something more eco friendly.

Supposed to make a big difference in noise and comfort of the ride. We plan on getting some in the next month or so.
The Goodyear Assurance Comfortred..... Best set of tires I have ever owned. You don't get snow down there but they are awesome in the winter as well. You won't go wrong. Cheers

Comfort is always subjective. My mom has an Avalon, and I'm way more comfortable driving my Prius. Both the seats and the feel of the drive feel better to me. Yes, the Avalon is quieter, but that's the least of my concerns when comparing the two cars ;-). Actually, I had to drive her Avalon today (for the first time since getting my Prius), and I hated driving it more than ever. I kept getting mad at how the engine would run at stoplights, how I couldn't coast down hills with the engine off, and how the brake pedal felt unresponsive and mushy. Ahh, how the Prius changes one's views . I love it! Oh yeah, I'm trying to get her to buy a TCH instead of another Avalon when she is going to get a new car within the next year or so...
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(ghostofjk @ Jun 17 2006, 11:01 PM) </div> I traded in a 2004 Ford Explorer XLT with leather, power everything, a DVD entertainment system and only 34K miles on it, still under full factory warranty. My 75 mile a day commute and at that time $2.50/gal gas prices were significant factors in my decision. I have always been proactive with any form of technology that can help protect our air quality, environment and general living conditions. Also, I am crazy about gadgets and the latest in technologies. The Prius was the perfect fit for me.
I traded a 2002 Cadillac Deville for a Prius B) B) B) <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(ghostofjk @ Jun 17 2006, 11:01 PM) </div>
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(ghostofjk @ Jun 17 2006, 11:01 PM) </div> My wife traded her 04 Lincoln Aviator for the Prius for a ridiculously high value. It's still on their lot 2 months later and probably will end up being sold for less than the trade value was. Yesss!!
i replaced my nissan maxima for my new blue metallic prius.....not the same ride, but with 4-5 dollar per gallon gas, it seems like a great tradeoff.... i also have quite a few shares of stock in oil and gas to hedge against those high prices..... i don't welcome those rediculous gas prices, but should offset it with gains in my stocks.... i would buy a second prius if i needed a second car, but am now retired.... last trip 1000 miles 53.7 mpg
Have to put my hand up to this one... I have driven Lexus for the past 15 years, but earlier this year I traded my GS300 for a GenII Prius. Funny thing, the Prius is just like a baby Lexus ...... full of toys and fun to drive ..... the extra mpg is a big bonus though..
I have an 05 Avalon that I bought new and an 07 Prius, also bought new. The Avalon does ride a little better, but I would much rather drive the Prius. The average mpg for the Prius is almost double that of the Avalon. The next big car decision will be which car has to go when my Leaf gets here.
That is SO funny, I just registered at clublexus.com today. No I don't own a Lexus, but I'm interested in getting an IS in maybe 10-15 years, whenever my Prius bites the dust. Figured I'd start learning about the Lexus now, so I can make the best purchase/informed decision ever.
That would be us! We replaced our '99 Honda Accord sedans with completely identical his & hers Blue Moon Pearl 2002's. We're still driving them and couldn't be happier. BTW my wife is a BBW and finds her Prius to be perfectly comfortable... she even prefers it to a gen 3!
I drive an '05 Gen II and my wife drives a '10 Gen III. I did keep my big Satty wagon (LW300) when I got the Prius and use the Satty as my hobby car.
