The only other related post i could find was done in 2004. I wonder if anyone has installed a 2-meter/440 rig in a Prius III? Also type and location of the antenna?
Hi Metalman, Do a search on Ham Radio. There are several threads/pictures of various ham rig installations in the Prius. Typically, the antenna is installed on the hatch, with the main unit by the battery (under the cover in the passenger side rear), and then the remote unit up by the driver (of course). This minimizes the power wiring and antenna cable runs.....
I'm thinking the Yaesu FTM-350AR, of which I have one, will be a nice fit if for no other reason than esthetics...the blue face will go with the blue LEDs everyone - myself included - seems to be installing. The new model I think has a better head mounting system, for those familiar with the poor original. Just getting around to such matters, being a Prius owner for only three weeks... Chris
I did searches on "ham radio" and "ham radio installation" and got a multitude of posts dealing with everything but ham radio. I must be doing something wrong.
Hi here, I owe you an apology, the link was trying to point you to was invalid!!! Sorry for not checking, my bad.... OK redo your search, search words..HAM RADIO.. now select "SHOW POSTS" and not the default "SHOW THREADS" there you will find many installs etc.. from various threads....sort of the short cut!!! Enjoy the pics of installs!!!
