At $29k for the pkg 8, I don't know how much more *luxury* room there is!

They'd have to rebrand it as a Lexus

<_< I don't see why they couldn't make all the packages available.
They would be able to sell them.

I agree. Although the sunroof will add a little to the wind drag, I think it shoudl be part of that package.

As soon as I purchase my package 8, I'll request the dealer to put in seat warmers after-market.

Here's the best pic I could find of Classic Silver Metallic on a Lexus...but we all know how misleading the colors on the websites are versus on how they look in real life/light, so keep that in mind.

...along with the "yammering in-law ejection-model" passenger seat ($2,500, but can be re-loaded if recovered intact) :p

So does anyone know what options are going to be offered in each region besides the couple that have been reported here?

In the Denver region I have had dealers refuse to order Package 1 because they say it will be unavailable: others are happy to order it for me, even though it was not available here last year.

I suspect that '05 is not predictive of packge availbility in '06, especially if there is going to be a shift towqrds "loadad cars".

As long as it isn't one of those sunroofs that take 1.5 - 2.0 inches of head room away. I've already learned to dislike those, as a fairly tall person.

I am on the wait list for a 2006 Prius in Denver. The packages was told available were 3, 4, 6, 7, & 8.

    Prices would be nice.

Which dealer gave you that info, Jeff? I live in Denver and am on the list at Stevinson West. They didn't know much about 2006 until I passed along the info found on this site.

I received an email from the internet salesman from John Elway Toyota a few days ago and these were the packages he named.

Would you be willing to call him and have him fax you any details he has?

Isn't anybody up in arms over the fact that the '06 doesn't offer rear disk brakes. In this day and age, I can't believe any car over $20K is built with rear drum brakes. I am a bit disappointed in Toyota for not correcting this difficiency in the '06. Just my thoughts.

I disagree. Given that the front discs wear very, very slowly due to regenerative braking, and that the rears, therefore, barely come into play, I think rear discs would be a waste of money. I don't know how much rear discs would add to the cost of the car---$200? 300? As has been expressed elsewhere on PC, I'd much rather see that kind of money applied toward everyone's (well, almost) favorite whipping girl, A BETTER SEAT FOR THE DRIVER.

Height-adjustable. And/or with adjustable lumbar support. And/or heated (for our friends up by International Falls and Sault Ste. Marie). B)

I totally agree, and drum brakes in the rear give a car much better parking brake system.

Hmm. The internet salesman at my local dealership told me back in August that he had the 2006 pricing already. I wasn't ready to order yet, so I forgot about it until I started reading this thread. I'm going to email him right now and ask for details.

Yeah, and in July my dealership told me that the 06' I ordered will be in within 6-8 weeks tops. Sometimes they tell you anything and it seems that many dealerships simply don't know much especially when it comes to this car...

You can find details on the Japanese 2006 Prius in the Hybrid News section: http://priuschat.com/Toyota-Japan-Announce...ius-t12016.html

Here's also a quick link to the tranlsated press release.

Looks like the following improvements were made on the 2006 MY in Japan:
    - "rigid improvement" - perhaps better body rigidity reinforcements?
    - "high sound insulation characteristic glass"
    - "optimization et cetera of the damping material"
    - "the HDD navigation system which adopts high fine wide display"
    - "high-class artificial leather of suede pitch"
    - "advanced style with the design modification of the grille * headlight the front and the combination lamp et cetera the rear"
    - "'the HYBRID' emblem is added to the front fender"
    - "'HYBRID SYNERGY DRIVE' emblem the rear has been expanded"

Hopefully, these changes will also show on the US 2006 MY!
