Where did you have it installed? I'd love to know how they got it to work....

I had it installed at a place that does aftermarket installations of all sorts of products for dealers (dealerworks.com). I remembered that yours didn't seem to work so that was one of the first things I tried out. Unfortunately I had so many questions about how everything worked that I didn't ask how they did it. I can't remember whether it was the i-Pod, CD, or other source button that we pushed to hear it. It may work for you as well if you can find the correct source button.

Oh okay - Well, I ruled it out because there is one connector from the factory harness that's left unused and I'm still not sure what it's for... I assumed it was the factory wire for the AUX (wire colors appeared to be the same); and since I have no use for the AUX function right now, I never bothered digging into it any further... Good to know it works though!

Ha ha ha - I only do PS3 - and I'd rather play my COD Black Ops on the 50" Plasma than a 7" Touchscreen! :p

Have any of you had any problems getting a GPS signal with your Rosen? I just got my installed on Friday. Worked like a charm driving around Friday night, strong signal. Saturday we got a huge snowstorm in Minneapolis, even took out the Metrodome, so didn't get out at all. Today the navigation's gps didn't work at all. The satellite indicator was blinking green. I am hoping its a communication issue because of the big storm and not my nav unit.

If you had heavy snow clouds, it can affect the GPS signal reception.

heyqqqq--Ask your friends and neighbors. Do other factory units work? What about portable units? Heavy snow clouds can affect GPS reception.

The question is if the Rosen is more affected then other units. It sounds like Rosen is designed more for easy install then optimum performance. Bluetooth mic is in the front of the HU. GPS antenna is generally on top of the HU. Not on the roof. Not on the dash. Not even right under the dash.

My antenna is mounted on the dash on the passenger side so should get good reception. I took the car out today and gps didn't work right away; I gave up and listened to the radio. I tried it about 15 minutes later and it worked. Not sure if it has trouble working in the freezing cold or if it just takes that long to establish a connection. Either way, I hope it improves otherwise it would be pretty useless here in MN.

Also, my CD/DVD drive doesn't seem to be accepting discs. I makes a sound like it's trying to load it, then the disc gets stuck and doesn't make it in. I had my installed at the dealer before purchase so still under warranty. I just hate having to involve the dealer, they're always full of BS.

If that was the first time you used it, that's reasonable. It takes the GPS a while to figure out that it has moved from China to Minnesota. If that wasn't the first time you have used it, then there is a problem.

The GPS in the Rosen unit relies solely on the signal reception - It must've been the bad weather, mine has been working well with the exception of one time when it took a lil' longer to figure out where I was, but it picked up the signal and worked fine from there.

You can mount a GPS antenna anywhere you want and the car!! It just so happens that the antenna that came with the Rosen has a shorter wire, but you can purchase one from Ebay that has a longer wire (16') and you can roof mount it easily!

There are TWO tiny screws on TOP of the unit that have to be removed before the DVD/CD player can be used - Make sure the dealership removed them!!! You can do so yourself if you don't wanna deal with the hassle of bringing it to them.

The GPS has been working the last day or two so maybe it was the weather. It was below zeros those days so maybe that was it. Hopefully that's not the problem, otherwise there could be times in the year (at least in MN) where my GPS is useless.

I can't believe they didn't remove the screws! I thought they're professional installers, I should have just done it myself.

    Thanks for the info.

My GPS didn't work at all today. There has to be something wrong. They mounted the antenna on the front passenger side at the base of the windshield so it should get pretty good reception. It was a little cloudy today so it could be that, but I was driving next to a car with a portable GPS and I could see his working fine. My luck, when I bring it in to get looked at, it will work perfectly. When I go to the GPS settings I can see that it's not able to get a signal. Maybe I just got a defective unit.

I've been trying to figure out what's wrong with my Nav unit and noticed that when the car hasn't been driven for a few hours, the Nav unit seems to reset completely when started up again. The time defaults to 1:00am and it takes 20 to 30 minutes to establish a signal. Once it's connected it works fine, but every morning it goes through that initializing sequence. Anyone else have this problem or know what could be causing it?

has anyone replaced the OE unit with this Rosen?

I really hate the nav system that came in the car (2010). would this thing be better?
how about the POIs on this unit...better than the OE?

    thanks

When the nav works in my car, I would say it's alright. I don't think it's as good as some of the portable units like Tom Tom or Garmin but it fits in nicely with the dash. I don't have any experience with the OE so not sure how that compares.

The Rosen does ok in re-routes and will tell you if you're speeding, but it's missing some things like speaking street names. I haven't played with it as far as POI's so not sure how complete the list is on those.

If you're looking for the latest and greatest features on a navigation system, I would probably steer you away from this unit. If you're looking more for fit and finish, than this is a pretty good option. The backup camera works well. Mine also has the iPod and USB cables but I hardly use them because it will BT stream music from my iPhone as well. I haven't tried the DVD or virtual CD drives yet. Still debating on if I should go in and ground the brake cable.

Mine's still not working right, problems connecting with satellites, but the installer is ordering me a new one so I'll let you know if that one is any better.

one of the main things that drives us nuts is not being able to use much of the nav features while driving...major PITA! What dork came up with this idiotic regulation, anyway?? Do these idiots never thing a passenger might want to do some searching while moving?
I have a Nuvi 500 in my Corolla and absolutely love it.

Installed my Rosen today in my Prius II. It sure beats the OE radio that was in the car. My Ipod sounds terrific through the system. Great addition to the car!

The YouTube video shows them using a harness that I assume comes with the unit, but you seemed to indicate that it was plug and play with the cables you removed from the stock radio. Did you use the extra harness that came with the unit?
